Talking

Although I'm a bit new and don't have much say around here, I'd like to start a little poll-type thing.

Firstly... Do you consider yourself to be a member of a higher echeleon of PDA users? I certainly do. Although it sounds dumb, I like to make fun of my friends' Palm IIIs.

Secondly, what model of Visor do you own and what's your favorite/most useful group of programs? I'm constantly playing DopeWars and IR Pong. Hackmaster can be strangely convenient at times, too.

Anyhow, this is just a bit of sugar-rush ramblings. Have a happy Halloween!

Here's what I have. If I would suggest it to someone else, it will contain a "*", or a "**" if it would get a "perfect five out of five."

Visor Deluxe (Blue)** or higher
Stowaway Keyboard** (Expensive, but well worth the money)
Back-up Module* (Don't leave home without it. Totally painless.)
8-meg Flash Module* (Cool, but you can't edit databases on it, so some programs won't work. But you can do back-ups of certain files/databases. Small programs/games/non-editable documents work great on it!)

Hackmaster** (Cool, but as the name implies, system mods a.k.a. 'hacks' can sometimes mess up or lock up your Visor.)
http://www.daggerware.com
My favorite hacks:
SelectHack-Tap to select words, lines, or paragraphs
ClipHack- http://www.deskfree.com Makes the clipboard go from 1000 to 28,000+ characters.
FindHack- http://fpillet.free.fr/ Improves the system "Find"
HackDelete Hack-When Active, stops you from deleting any active hack, which would cause a system crash.(www.benc.hr)
Swipe!- http://www.doublebang.com Allows you to replace the basic pen stroke with 7 commands including Desk Accessories (Similar to Hacks, but are more like programs.)
TealEcho http://www.tealpoint.com -Overlays the Graffiti stroke, so you can see what you are writing directing above your stylus.

AvantGo*http://www.avantgo.com - Allows you to download your favorite websites when you HotSync, for you to read while on the go. Also works with a modem, too.

BeamWare* http://members.tripod.com/~hokamoto/ allows you to beam ANYTHING, even if the receiver doesn't have the program. (The BEAM on the main menu, only does programs.)

DBCLeaner* http://www.palmix.itil.com Allows you to delete any database, because some programs will leave behind databases after they are deleted, which may clog your memory.

FireViewer** http://www.firepad.com -Allows you to view any image, up to 8,000 x 8,000 pixels, depending on your Visor, you can view black & white, 4-grey, 8-grey, 16-grey, or 256 color. Also get FireConverter, which allows you to change any .bmp, .gif, or .jpg (.jpeg) into a picture. Allows allows you to compress images.

MobiPocket* http://www.mobipocket.com -Allows you to download and read, and bookmark E-books. The "Classics" are free to download, and you can create your own E-books.

Wheh! Sorry about the length. If you want more info on good programs, need help on something, or need an expirienced Visor Dlx. user, feel free to contact me.

Certainly! The Visor has a reputation for being the Swis Army PDA. It's everything you want it to be.

Same with me. We have a debate continuing with this PDA "club" that I am a member of. I have a Visor, my friend has a Palm V, my other friend has a Cassiopeia, and two more friends bought VDxs (when Platinum was out) just because of me. We say that the Palm V is just too expensive for just a Li-ion battery and some nice styling. The Cassiopeia is also too expensive, and pulls down your pants, but does run CE. The Visor seems just right. Not too big or expensive.

I own a VDx that I got on the 19th through Handspring.com I run Vindigo and AvantGo often along with many other of the default programs that came with the Visor. Also, I run Noah Lite (an e-dictionary), a laser tag program, a chat program, the incredible machine (on the PalmOS, called Puzzles in motion), a few hacks, an unregistered version of OmniRemote, TomeRaider, Beam Box, FireViewer, and HandMirror (I use my Visor all the time. I am lucky if I can get a week out of my batteries). If you want any of the programs, just e-mail me at [email protected]. I will be happy to give you what I have.

Wow! A person who actually has vaguely the same opinions as I do? That's great! Thanks for some nice reading!
