Question

does anyone know if handspring sells or provides battery covers for people who lost theirs? one of my friends was screwing around with my visor and was trying to take the batteries out and he lost it. thanx

I figure you got only 2 choices:

1) Beg Handspring to send you a replacement(for free first, then offer to pay for one).

or

2) Find another friend with a visor, screw around with his battery cover, and "accidentally" lose it.

Better keep your eye on that "friend," of yours or jot down your serial # from your battery cover!

I e-mailed HS from their web site and they sent out a replacement cover for free the next day. Mine was loose and jiggled around.

What kind of "friend" would try to take out your batteries in the first place. Then lose the cover! I think YOU lost the cover and your too embarrassed to admit to it! Come on! Be a man (or woman) and fess up!

Cool

Has anyone ever seen this "friend" of yours and you in the same room at the same time?

I think you two are one and the same! Admit it! Go on!

I read on my national enquire page from Avantgo that there has been a rash of battery casing's being lost. They say that the gremlins that were stealing socks from the dryer and pens from your desk, have amassed all the socks they need for there diabolical plans, and now are focusing their resources on battery covers. They are still stockpiling pens.

Question

Doesn't the battery cover have the serial number stuck to it? I don't know that it matters if you lose the SN, but it can't be good for possible future returns.

So why did HS decide to put the SN on a removeable battery cover? Seems kinda silly to me, like putting a car's VIN on the gas cap. Anyway...

I copied my SN into my Owner page in the preferences. I thought it might be a little easy to lose and, considering that it is needed to get software updates from Handspring, very important.
