Hi All,

I've been using my new Visor DX for about a week and I must say that I am very happy so far. Although I consider myself to be somewhat of a techno-gadget addict this is my first handheld. I've been following the handhald scene for a while and I almost bought a Palm last year but, I guess, I just couldn't see enough value for the price. Handspring of course changed all that so here I am with the rest of you addicts. Okay just kidding

Here are my questions:

This morning I noticed that I managed to put a few very minor scratches on the graffiti area. It seems to me that this is probably normal wear and tear since I've been careful not to use too much force while writing. I would like to hear opinions from other users (especially heavy graffiti users) on whether I should be worried about this in the long term. If the Graffiti area becomes all scratched up will the writing accuracy suffer and if so how badly?

I've also noticed that under some neon lights the screen tends to flicker a little. Interestingly enough this doesn't seem to happen under all neons. I am wondering if other people have noticed the same and what the explanation is.

So you have scratches on you're screen? That will be your first smack on the rear as initiation begins
Take a look at the stylus. It may have some flash left on the tip from the production process. I would stongly suggest you 2 things. Get a new stylus and some form of screen protector.
I've got a PDA Panache for a stylus and the weight diff alone makes it worth the money. As far as a screen protector goes, I just used a transparent slide cut to fit, the kind you use to give presentations on an overhead projector. There are many threads on that subject, try a search.

As far as the flickering under neon lights...
Are you sure you mean neon and not floresecnt(sp. Neon lights are at the bar and flores. lights are above my cubicle. My visor hasn't flickered in eather place.

Bye the way, I do own a panache stylus but I am not sure if it caused the scratches or the plastic one that shipped with Visor...

I also have a new Visor and the plastic stylus. Is it wise to toss the plastic sylus in favor of a newer, heavier one? Does the plastic stylus have a tendency to scratch the screen more than the other types to stylii?

I wouldn't pitch your old stylus (carry it in your briefcase or purse for emergencies), but it is soft enough for some dust particles to get embedded in it (and some particles are hard enough to scratch the screen). The heavier styli are preferred because you only have to move them in the horizontal plane, they supply all the downward pressure that the Visor needs to recognize a stroke.

The PDA Panache Stylus for HandSpring Visor is the concensus weapon of choice. However, do investigate all your options. For example, I'm considering one of the pen styli (for ergonomic reasons).

Some form of screen protector is an absolute must. I use WriteRights, because I like the feel that I get writing on their textured surface. I also like that they cut down on glare, but I'll be the first to concede that they are way over priced!
