-- USB hotsync fails when connected to USB hub, works when connected to USB port (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=15551)
I guess it's all in the subject...
When I try to hotsync with the cradle connected to a USB hub (actually my Sony monitor), it fails after a variable amount of time with the message "Lost connection with the computer"... If I connect the cradle directly to the PC's USB port, it works fine.
The amazing thing is that I got this problem only after I received a replacement Platinum (after the original broke), while it had always been working fine with the original one!!! The cradle is the same.
Could it be a problem with the replacement unit? The only difference I see is that the replacement unit has the french PalmOS, while the original had the english one.
Any ideas?
If the hub is not powered, sometimes this can cause a problem... .but I don't know.. I would suggest to just keep it plugged into the computer.

Yes, the Sony HMD-A200 (as well as several other monitors) also serve as a (powered) USB hub...
Now I'm keeping my Visor cradle plugged to the computer directly, but the other USB port is used by my ADSL modem, so it means I can't use any other USB device without unplugging the Visor cradle...
Maybe the ADSL modem could work through the USB hub, but I'd rather have it plugged directly into the computer.
BTW, I tried using the Handspring utility called VisorUSBregclean, but it didn't help. I also removed all USB devices from the System/Devices panel, then rebooted and let it redetect them, without any noticeable change...
There's some great USB technical and troubleshooting information over at the USB Man website.

Thanks for the link, I'll let you know if I succeed.
I've been through the USBman troubleshooting guide, and now I've managed to make it hotsync again using the USB hub
Thanks MarkEagle for the very valuable link.
