Question

I recently purchased the 8mb Flash Module for my Visor. I have read a few previous posts and some information from the Handspring website and I am getting confused.

First, I should explain that I don't use my Visor to its full potential. There are a lot of things that I could probably be doing with it, but I just use it for the basics. I have a bank book program, shopping program, budget programs, HanDBase, and some other miscellaneous applications and games. I used up my 2mb pretty quick and decided to get the flash module.

From what I understand, you can't alter or change information in the module. I store the majority of my applications in the module and make changes to them often. What kind of things cannot be changed and/or altered? I make changes to my shopping programs and bankbook programs all of the time without problem.

I saw in a previous post that you can store the applications on the module and the data on the internal memory. How is this done?

I also understand that applications and data on the module are not backed up during HotSync, and that I need a "module-aware conduit." What is that and where do I get it? I searched on PalmGear and couldn't find anything.

I would appreciate any and all help. I feel pretty stupid asking these "elementary" questions.

Thank you!

You may want to use the search feature on this board, as there have been posts with extensive lists of applications that run fine from the 8MB SBM.

Re: data files and prog files - - You can move these via the File Mover app that is automatically available whenever your 8MB SBM is installed in your Visor. To move only the application (and not the data files) to the SBM, set the filter to "Apps" (as opposed to "Data" or "All").

Re: backing up the 8MB SBM - - There is currently only one conduit that does this, BackupBuddy. Note that BackupBuddy is not smart enough to backup more than one SBM, but this is a feature request that they are considering.
