-- QuickOffice causing fatal exceptions (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10929)
I recently had to do a hard reset of my VPL. I took the opportunity to do a comlete spring clean (a bit early I know but hey...).
Anyway, when I reinstalled QuickOffice 5.0 I experienced Fatal Exceptions everytime I used the Palm OS Find. If I remove QuickOffice, the find performs as expected. reinstall quickoffice the problem occurs again. delete it and the problem goes away
anybody got any ideas
While not exactly your problem, I've been getting fatal exception errors when using QuickOffice(QO).
I have been running QO for over a year now, and I haven't had any problems. When I upgraded to QOv5.6, I noticed that I've been getting "fatal exception" errors when I use QuickWord. I've had the same problem on both my Visor Platinum and Neo.
Perhaps your "find" issue can be solved by an upgrade?
I've been using QuickOffice on my Platinum for at least a year now, and haven't run into any problems with it and Find or anything else. Perhaps you have a corrupted DOC or quickword file that it's choking on?
You might also want to try the latest version (5.6.3) and see if that helps.
You can also try FindIgnoreHack and use it to help isolate the find crashes. It's a hack that lets you tell Find to ignore selected apps when it searches. It helped me isolate a problem with Find crashing on memos > 4k.
