-- WordSmith pauses when exiting (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=15207)
I have a Visor Deluxe, a Stowaway keyboard and an unregistered copy of WordSmith. After typing anything substantial, saving and selecting another application button, my Visor sits there with a blank screen for 1-3 minutes depending on how much I've typed. This is seriously annoying, considering Blue Nomad has never heard of this problem before. I have over 2000k of free memory, the latest (v1.5) keyboard driver, and have disabled all my hacks, installed afterburner, reinstalled WordSmith repeatedly, and basically tried everything I can to get rid of this problem. TakeNote! (the program included with the GoType keyboard) doesn't cause this problem, nor does the Palm memo application. However, I did notice that when I type with the on screen keyboard, it will not pause when I exit, but typing the same amount with the Stowaway causes a ten second delay when changing apps. Can *ANYONE* give me a hint to what's wrong with my setup?
Nauta:
I have never experienced this problem with Wordsmith and wish I could help. Some folks have noticed Afterburner issues with the 1.5 Stowaway driver.
Figured the least I could do is bump you back up to the top of the list...

Well, it's not so important now, I got ahold of SmartDoc 2.0 which is not only free apparently, it doesn't have that problem. It was obivously a conflict between WordSmith and my keyboard, so I'll just let it be. Might as well leave this up so if anyone else ever has the same issue, they can rest assured it's not just them... but it *is* just me!
-Nauta, Visor still kicks Palm's a$$!

I have the same problem and I HAVE told Blue Nomad about it before. I use a Delux as well, but I don't have a keyboard and my Wordsmith is registered. It doesn't happen all the time, or seem consistant with the size of the file I was editing. It does make it so that I try to make sure I leave Wordsmith when I am done so the next thing I try do won't possibly take a minuet or two to get into.
I have seen this problem with other application, however. One I remember was a trial of TinySheet. The other is the file mover on the Handspring 8MB Flash Module. When I wrote Blue Nomand's tech support I was also using a trial of Lanuch'em, and since removing it I have noticed the amount of times I see the problem go down quite a bit. Still not gone though.
Otherwise I love Wordsmith, and their tech support has been great about other questions.
FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!
It was TRAPWEAVER! *grr*
I had version 1.05 of Trapweaver... I did some deductive reasoning this morning and realized the only system utility I hadn't experimented with disabling was TrapWeaver.. lo and behold, that was the conflict. With it disabled, WordSmith works just fine, exits in a matter of seconds rather than minutes. I've emailed Blue Nomad about this problem. I've never had any problem with Tiny Sheet or any other programs like this, so I hope that this may help you.
-Nauta
Try version 1.08 of TrapWeaver. This is the version that I run and I have no problems with delays in WordSmith. Just so you have the version info, I run:
TrapWeaver 1.08
WordSmith 1.12
Stowaway driver v1.5
X-Master 1.2
No problems with this combination so far. I hope this helps.

What is Trapweaver?

NOT! I have had more problems with that program than any other! Like the example above, Huge! delays when exiting Wordsmith, Tiny sheet and sometimes corrupted databases on other DB editing programs. I'd say It Causes more problems than fixes them.

Sounds to me like a good old Backup and then a test of Trapweaver may be in order...
Ok, But just be aware I had problems when I was editing DB's like Mobile DB and it mixes it up. Also some other System 'Hack' Type programs don't like trapweaver. Or when you try to use Fliphack or any other software that tries to access the graphics it gives errors or messages stating it can't work. When I had trapweaver installed I didn't really notice any less crashes (as a matter of fact I think I got More crashes when I had it activated than not!) I hope it works for you though. Maybe I just have bad luck.
Good Luck! (You'll need it)

Yikes!
Here's the deal:
I'm basically too chicken to screw around with my VDX too much--I mean, I've used Afterburner and Hackmaster for some things, but not major undertakings...
what if I screw it up....yep, not taking any chances--sorry sdoersam...I'M CHICKEN!! (hugs visor closely to chest)
trap weaving
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't X-Master and TealMaster both do versions of trap weaving or patching? I've had major problems with the v1.5 Stowaway driver which makes my Visor crash about 3 times daily or necessitate a reset cause it freezes - like when I delete something from the Flash Module, whereupon it corrupts and promtply needs to be reformat. I HATE reconstituting the thing, esp. over my serial port...
Maybe I should just go back to HACKMASTER since it doesn't profess to anything fancy, except reset every thirteenth usage (or something like that).
Any advice?
