-- Vaja case vs. Custom Zipper Case (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3893)

I'm considering buying either a Vaja case or Handspring custom zipper case. Both look great, but I'm wondering about how good the protection is for the Visor, particularly screen protection. On the Vaja, is the metal stud very noticeable if the belt clip isn't on? Does the Custom case inside cover create that "V" indentation that others have spoken about on other Handspring cases? Has anyone seen any reviews on the Custom zipper cases?

Thanks for your help.

Cool

I just purchased the Vaja case - and it is absolutely the best made product of its type that I've seen. The metal stud on the back is certainly noticeable, but it really doesn't get in the way. I tend to slip the case in a pants pocket or sportcoat pocket most of the time, and it's not a problem. As you consider the two cases, the advantage of the Vaja is that when it is open, its easier to hold than the zipper case - because of the way it opens over the top of the Visor.

Good luck with your decision.

Cool

Go with the Vaja. I got the black ostrich case and it is a real beauty. The Alligator looks interesting but wasn't in stock, and the brown ostrich might look good as well. It does seem to be the most well made case out there- certainly better constructed than the Handspring zipper case, which I did hold and examine thoroughly. I also do not notice the metal stud when slipping it into my pocket. I have occasionally used the belt clip too- when I have on a Polo type shirt I attach the visor to my pant waist and the shirt covers it up. Now all these things are great but the number 1 thing I like about the Vaja is the way it opens. One snap and flip cover folds back giving you instant access to your Visor. The quick access is great when you want to jot something down or refer to something real fast. No fumbling around, you can easily do it with one hand. Get the Vaja from http://www.directcase.com/ for free shipping. I ordered mine there and even though I chose ground shipping I had it in 2 days shipped Air!

I've been looking at the Vaja cases, and they look really good, but the only thing holding me back is the materials used. I don't like the bumpy qualities of the ostritch (sp?) leather. I would like a plain, smooth, black leather. Or a tan color. Is there any way to get one customized? Without spending a lot more for the service for customization?

I don't own a Vaja, but from what I can see on their site, there are eight different types of leather. The horse hair case looks nice... I bet the front is really soft and smooth. However, on further inspection, it looks like this color for the Visor is sold out right now. Maybe you could write them and inquire when it will be back in. Looks like the only colors are Olive Green Nubuck, Black Ostrich, Brown Ostrich, Black Alligator, and Brown Leather.

The brown ostrich is beautiful as well. The leather is very soft(typical for ostrich) and the bumps aren't that noticeable...it isn't the part of the ostrich that is referred to as "full quill". The stiff piece in the front flap is strong enough to provide good protection for the Visor...

My advice..get one. I love the quality.

Yes I know about all the other colors and materials that are available... .

I was wondering if anyone knew if people could custom order a different type of material, since I remember someone mentioning that one could. I prefer plain black leather. I would think that this would have been an option for the color / material, since almost all other leather / fake leather cases are black.
