-- Flat Panel Speakers for Mini Jam? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8847)

Posted by RadarGreg on 10-21-2000 08:12 PM:

I thought I remembered James' review of the Mini Jam mentioning something about a pair of mini flat panel speakers being available for the new MP3 player from Innogear. I don't have the Mini Jam, but would like something like that for my laptop, as the designers put the speakers right under your hands on the front part of the laptop. Has anyone seen these speakers or something similar on the market? Searching through the usual sources, i.e BestBuy, CompUSA, and Circuit City turned up nothing. Thanks for the help!

I actually have the speakers but haven't reviewed them yet. They're pretty thin and put out great power. I think they'd make good replacements for a laptop or desktop.

I called Innogear today and asked about the speakers. They thought the price was $999.99. I assured them that price had to be incorrect, and no one would buy a pair that cost a thousand bucks. They later emailed me and said the price was in fact $99.99. I still think they are crazy and will never sell a pair of speakers for that price. You can get a small pair of shielded speakers for about 20 bucks. I can't imagine the performance of the Innogear speakers worth 5 times that amount. They also said they were available for ordering, but nothing on their website lets you purchase them. I can see why it has taken their company a year to get out the SixPak...
