-- The best theft security for my [2nd] Visor? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14084)
I recently left my Visor behind in a Paris taxi cab, and on a daily basis, I am racked by regret over its loss. Not only did I lose my Thinmodem and a Vaja case, but I became paranoid that a lot of my personal information had become available to someone who might be able to use it to my detriment (I had "locked" the most sensitive bits, but who knows how easy it might be to access that?). My only hope is that the batteries die before someone figures out how to hack into it.
My question is this: I just bought my replacement (Platinum because Edge doesn't fit Stowaway, Prism still too expensive and I still like Handspring), and I want to protect myself this time around. Can anyone recommend good (1) encryption software; (2) handheld insurance; (3) a "lost and found" labelling service that will ensure the finder a reward and allow them to ship the handheld back to the owner? I'm in North America now.
Thanks!
PDABomb!
For the encryption software, give PDABomb! a try. It gives you good control over what databases you can protect, and allows two different protection levels for your data. It also allows you to set a "bomb" (optional) so that if you enter the password wrong "x" number of times, or you haven't synched it in "x" number of days, it nukes the entire memory contents of the PDA. It also closes a couple of security holes in the Palm OS. The only thing you have to be careful of is this: Make sure you remove your Springboards while the unit is "unlocked." If you remove a Springboard while the unit is off and locked, it will power on the Visor and bypass the login screen. Data stays encrypted, so it is still safe, but it does require you to relock and unlock the device to access your data. More annoying than anything else.

PDA Bomb is excellent advice -- I just checked out the link you provided. Thank you. Already making me feel less like an idiot (or more because I didn't protect my first visor!).
PDABomb
I, too, recommend PDABomb. It is working great for me.
I use a program called Autolock for security. It seems to be pretty good.
For insurance, I just bought some from PDAS Lost or Stolen. PDAS Lost or Stolen You also get a free copy of Backup Buddy when you purchase the insurance.
Hope this helps!

Security
There's a program called safe that will encrypt your memo pad. Very nice.
