-- Does the edge fit on the stowaway? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12969)
Has anyone heard or learned if you can use the Stowaway keyboard with the Edge's slim design?
This is a big one for me too. I searched through all the Edge and Stowaway information currently available and couldn't find a thing. With so many Stowaway users out there you'd think that Handspring would add this to the FAQ...
I thought of that too, but the sad thing is that might be the reason it is absent from the FAQ. Not a good feature? Don't include info about it.

The chances are pretty slim. The connector on the Edge appears to be a different size, and according to the developer docs on Handspring.com, the pinout on the connector is different anyway.
Hmmm
This is the big question for me,too, seeing how I *just* purchased the stowaway. I'll be really bummin' if my stowaway cannot connect with the Edge. Shoot - that would even keep me from buying one for a while.
This is a huge question for me and I sure hope HS will address this quickly. I am thinking about giving my BVDX to my wife and buying the Edge, but if it is not compatible with my Stowaway...forget it!

Nope, it doesn't fit the Stowaway. The connector on the Edge is a bit wider.
Think Outside will be doing an Edge version of the Stowaway. Not sure on the release date, though.

A very poor design decision if it in fact is NOT compatible with existing peripherals.

You know - I chose Nikon over Canon because their lenses work with all of their previous models. Handspring should take some pointers from Nikon.
I'm *not* buying another Stowaway. No way.
I'm not surprised at all. They've done the Palm Vx thing, and I think it's justified for the size and shape benefits.

Unfortunately, that new 12-pin cradle connector makes the Edge incompatible with any existing peripherals...

Actually, to be fair, I have a Nikon manual camera as well, for the used manual focus lenses I'll be getting. However, autofocus will be purely EOS.
True, true. Canon's autofocus is bad to the bone. But the Nikon F series is untouchable.
I'm still not buying another Stowaway. I don't care if Palm Vx pulled the same move. It's very uncool. They should at least come out with an adapter. (I don't know if that's even possible). I'll pay $30 for an adapter. But $100 for another freakin' Stowaway? I've already lost enough money in the Nasdaq!!!
Can I hear an amen?
I'm pretty sure the VE won't fit the Stowaway, but I can understand why because of the form factor. The only way they could have kept the old connector is if it was angled, and that wouldn't have looked right. I'm sure someone will make a "bridge" for VE users eventually.
As long as HS only has 2 lines of accessories (regular and thin) I won't have a problem with it.

I know it's a pain, but the form factor pretty much demanded a new connector.
As for the Stowaway, you can sell your old one on eBay for $80 or so, so in the end the investment isn't that great to upgrade it. A bit of a hassle to go through the sale, but it's at least an option.
At least they included the Springboard adapter instead of saying "we're going to a new thin expansion module for this model." It could have been a LOT worse.

The Stowaway has pretty much replaced my Vaio as my primary mobile writing tool. As tempting as the Edge is, no Stowaway compatibility = no sale. I'll probably wind up getting a Prism if the m505 (Palm V Stowaway compatible) is as expensive as I'm expecting it to be.
I'll go along with the majority here; it's unfortunate the Edge isn't compatible with the existing Stowaway, and I'll get an Edge when this gets addressed, because I use the Stowaway so much.
Stowaway
Just got an e-mail back from Targus stating toward the end of the year.
<At this time the Edge is not compatible with the Stowaway for the Visor.
Our product team is looking into development of a Stowaway for the Edge.
Check back with me near the end of the year or look on our website at that
time. New Product information can be seen on our website at www.targus.com
by going to "What's New" on the homepage.
Sincerely,

HandSpring or Targus ought to introduce an adapter for the thousands of people who have the current Visor Stowaway.
