Here's my question short and sweet people. How fast is the IR port on the Visor? I want to transfer some fairly big files to my friend with another Visor. How many KB/sec is the IR transceiver?

I don't know exactly in KB, but I can tell you its bloody fast!! In the office we beam apps to each other every day and even the biggest file takes no more than 5-10 seconds.

Maximum for serial IR is that of the "standard" serial port, about 115Kbps. Note that there are IR comm standards with higher speeds (currently 3 of them), but they require IR ports that are specifically designed to support them.

Well I'll be transferring 2.5MB files today (or try at least). I'll keep you informed

I tried to do it today-- and it was going--for about 2 minutes I'd say--but still hadn't finished and I had to go desperately so I aborted. Next time I'll allocate more time to do it.
