Question What's new with Innogear?

After deciding to cancel the SixPak expansion module, what is next from the company? I thought that they had "a lot of exciting things coming," but it's been a while since they've announced anything. Are their current modules selling well? Anyone know what's going on?

Maybe they got smart and figured out that you guys would be last to know since this board only beats up on companys that talk before they are shipping

I think all the Innogear bashing on VC was necessary. If we haven't seen anything from Innogear it's probably cuz they're not saying anything until they know they can ship it this time. They did mention a few months ago that they planned on different memory modules. I think the only way they could make themselves reputable again to us VCer's is to release a memory module that'll blow away all of the ones we currently have. Maybe one with SM, CF, MMC, and MS all rolled into one, with flash memory for built in apps. It's a pipedream I know, but it would be awesome.

They have publicly stated two things:

1st. they have decided to no longer release projected release dates

2nd. that they are working on several Innodrive products.

I would have expected that they would have managed to get one of the innodrives to market by now, but alas they haven't.
I would say anyday now, then again if you asked me a month I would have said anyday now.

I also would say that expect to be dissapointed. I know it's harsh, but I've just not seen as much innovation from them as I have from other companies. (Ironic given the name)

While they were one of the first companies with two viable springboards (Innopak/2v and the minijam), both of those proudcts do not seem to have been improved signifigantly since their release, nor has the company released anything new since then. and for that matter they have not been cutting prices either. (though they were doing a few nice promos for the minijam for a while)

I mean they didn't even make an innopak/8v which would have had a decent market and would have been fairly simple given what they already had.

Back to the point, I won't say Innogear is a bad company, because I can't make the products they make. I will say that they really need to release a solid product soon, or at least cut prices.

Updates? What about the SoundsGood?

I don't know about anyone else here...but I'm still waiting for the soundsgood to be updated to run .wma files. While they have updated their web site to state that only mp3 will be supported, that's not what they claimed when the majority of users bought theirs.

Well,

I would say that you think the bashing did good but now you no longer get sneak peaks or know whats to come- which may be good, but I would say its a bummer because they may have something really hot - much hotter then what you chose to buy tomorrow - and if you would have known, you may not have to say - if only I knew they were coming out with that 1 month later I would have waited.

So yes- you taught Innogear well but at the same time messed it up for those of us who like to get sneak peaks.

What is the point of getting a sneak peak if the products don't actually come to market? Why get all excited for naught?

Did you buy all modules they have, including these vapor modules?
How do you judge a product you don't have? Sleep walking into their company and try them???

YOu probably don't know my history on thos board, so let me give you the short story...

I had a visor for a while, and got the privilage of using their modules for a while. I have since moved to greener pastures (PDA wise, not module wise) and purchased an iPAQ PocketPC. So the yet part refers to the fact that I don't have a new visor yet....

He wasn't reffering to your ownership of a Visor but rather the actual purchase of Innogear's modelds, including those promised and never delivered. Personally, I don't see why you'd want a Dataplay module for - if the Palm OS wasn't adequate, how is more storage for it going to change that?

Lets not start arguing over Innogear or their products though, the man's question was "what's up?" and their stance on no product announcements until the product is finished it clear. If Innogear wants to make a statement they will, I'm sure they monitor these boards .

Yes, it's too easy to start a flame war again, (especially those of us who have MiniJams and are still waiting for the update to add all those "promised" features.. I personally doubt it will ever see the light of day). The last minijam update was in October and they only did that because the Minijam was (mostly) not compatible with the Prism.

For a time comparison, since October, the Memplug was conceived, designed, built, manufactured and shipped, as well as some software updates and now PiDirect.. Since October, I think there has been more than sufficient time to add a few additional "promised" features to the minijam.

They obviously don't have a priority on updating their prior products.
