- Springboard Modules (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=10)
-- GeoDiscovery Geode (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5492)
From what i gather on the Geode flyer, the initial Geode will not have a wireless internet connection but subsequent Geodes will. Does anyone have any info on this? Do they plan on offering wireless internet access at some point in addition to a GPS unit? Am i dreaming?
Also, is the antenna on the geode able to flip down? it looks like it might be on hinges, but it is always in the same position in every picture. It sure would be nice if it flipped down when not in use.
highly anticipating this module. if anyone has any additional info, i would love to hear it.
Check out VC's interview with GeoDiscovery's Joe Free at PC Expo (http://www.visorcentral.com/article.php3?id=47&pv=1). There's a lot of info there. Also, the second page of the article shows the best photo of the springboard that I've seen so far. Judging from it, it looks highly unlikely that the GeoDe antenna folds at all. I think it would make the unit much more fragile in any case, so I'd doubt they'd do it.
The Geode is a solid unit with no antenna.

Speaking of the antenna, does anyone know if I'll be able to use the Geode or the HandyGPS while I'm driving without having to stop to put the unit up by the windshield. I mean, if I'm driving and have something that can mount the Visor near the windshield, should it be able to track me?
thanks james.
i wrote the original post before your EXCELLENT article on the upcoming springboards with the close up pic of the geode. By the way, great pic, thanks.
What about the wireless internet access? Does GeoDiscovery plan on incorporating it into the Geode or did i misread something?
thanks again for the great expo coverage.
