Here's something I do to help keep the screen clean of smudges: I cut out a small square of lens-cleaning cloth (you can buy one at a camera or eyeglass store) and keep in the empty Springboard slot! So if I want to clean the screen and don't want to scratch the screen with a rough cloth, I've got a handy wipe in its own little drawer. Now don't be silly and use the slot to keep emergency quarters or anything!

Well I use my Visor while driving. I eat while driving I even (yes) talk on my cell while driving.

The way I see it is if my life wasnt so busy I wouldnt need to use my drive time for handling tasks nor would I need a visor either.

I think people who cant multitask should do just that, and not drive while doing other things and let those who can multitask alone.

You think that you can "multitask," but the guy you run into/cut off/pi$$ off -- without even knowing it -- probably doesn't think so.

Somepeople can talk on the cell phone while driving, and somepeople can't even talk to their passenger while driving. So if we are going to bash people who talk on cell phones, you might as well bash people who talk to their passengers. I think it is a very common occurence to drive with one hand and talk.

I realize how futile it is to reiterate this, but the point of starting this thread was to discuss tips and tricks with the Visor. Unfortunately I lacked the foresight to see the consequences of that extra sentence about using the Visor in the car. That was really beside the point, but somehow everyone's fixated on the car issue. If any admin is reading this, please demote this thread to the Off Topic Forum. Again, my apologies.

Hey Gameboy, relax. I've seen your frustration all through this discussion. This is how things work. I'm sure people will throw in their "stupid" tricks every once in a while, and in the meantime, just sit back and enjoy the discussion about driving that you started!!!

I haven't used my Visor for "stupid" tricks yet. I'm still exploring all the things I can do with this wonderful machine that has brought order to my otherwise crazy life! And if you don't think that being the mom of four children under 7 isn't crazy, then I dare you to walk a week in my barefeet!

The SixPak will do voice recording, but not voice transcription, at least not out of the box. I think that IBM has or will have a Via Voice port for Palm OS. But I'm skeptical of the whole idea given the current state of the art. If you've tried any speech-to-text software for the PC, you know how resource-intensive they are. I can't imagine anyone shoehorning a decent speech recognition package into a springboard (yet).

I'm a lawyer and I remember how awed I was when I first saw real-time transcription (about 8 years ago). Then it became a regular thing -- I'd sit in a deposition with my laptop in front of me, reading the words pretty much as they were spoken (it made objections pretty smooth -- because you could see exactly what had been said and could determine whether or not to object and on what grounds.

I never imagined it would be possible on anything as small as my Visor! What'll they think of next?

Stupid Visor Trick #2: Going into the electronics section of a shopping mall and using OmniRemote to drive the insistent salesman crazy by switching channels on the various TVs

Try using the Omniremote in a classroom that has a projector/tv/vcr. It's extremely funny to watch a professor who's supposed to be technology literate try and figure out why the projector keeps turning on and blinding him in the middle of his lecture! It's hilarious!!!

Using CityZen (freeware) as a low-budget alternative to RouteEurope (uh...or RouteUSA, from www.palmtop.nl or whatever Route planner) and trying to triangulate your location with no GPL and only those awkwardly labelled points, really zoomed in.

Ha! Notice that I didn't say I was using it in a car, driving one-handed. (Though where else would I be? Wait - I didn't say that. Please don't start again!)

BTW I recommend this software, and would someday like an update, but the site is down.
