Memplug VFS manager problem

I have successfully downloaded and installed VFS manager to my Visor Platinum, but the VFS manager is not recognising that there is a Smartmedia card in the module. PiBack-up and mover are both working without problems. The only hack I have installed is Fitaly Stamp. Any ideas?

Just to get some basic troubleshooting questions out of the way:

Did you click enable under PiVFSManager?

If you did, how do you know PiVFSManager doesn't see the card?

Yes, I did enable VFS manager. When I go to VFS manager, it says that there is no card inserted or else it says that there is a smartmedia card, but will still not recognise any programmes on the card (including Adobe Acrobat, which is VFS-enabled).

Hi,

It is a known bug of PiVFSMgr and will be fixed in the next beta release. You can enable PiVFSMgr even it display "No card inserted".

To avoid this wrong message, you need to disable PiDirect first.

You can download LauncherIII in our website.

http://www.memplug.com

For LauncherIII and Adobe Acrobat reader, you *must* put the .pdb or .prc files in the /Palm/Launcher/ directory.

Hope this can help you.

Regards,
PiDeveloper

I have already downloaded Launcher III. It also can access programmes that are on the card via PiDirect without problem. However, I can still not get VFS manager to recognise anything.

The LIII in our website has a bit different. You need to download it if you want to use PiVFSMgr+LauncherIII

Also, all the applications should put in /Palm/Launcher/ folder.

Let me know your result.

Thanks

After downloading this version, everything is working. However, it is very slow to access a 635kb database. Is the speed related to the size of the database?

Sure, if the file size is larger, the speed will slower.

If you want faster speed, you can use PiDirect instead.

I have started using PiDirect instead, with much better results as far as speed goes. My question, therefore, is why is there so much talk about VFS and are there any advantages that VFS has over PiDirect?

I had the same problem, they show up on internal memory, when I move them to /Palm/Launcher, they disappeared. Then I remembered I had disabled PiVFSMgr. I enabled it, and they showed up again. Could that be it?
