Hack or Shortcut to toggle SIlent mode?

Is there a hack, shortcut, or graffiti stroke that can toggle the alarm mode from "Sound" to "Silent"?

Additionaly, I know, as it stands, the silent alarm only works with Datebook+ alarms. Has anyone seen any hacks to make it work in any other programs? or have any other programs been updated to make use of the silent alarm?

There are abymissaly few edge-specific hack or programs (about none, that I'm aware of). I think that the latest beta of DB4 might be able to handle the silent alarm. I'm a little dissapointed.

Here's my question, does the silent alarm for the Edge use the same system call (or whatever it's called, I'm an idiot with this stuff) that the M500s do?

No. OS4 has something call "Attention Manager" to control the alarms. I did find a OS4/M50x-specific hack that did what I was asking for above but it worked with the Attention Manager API. I know the Edge doesn't use this API.

Honestly, right now I don't even have any other programs that have an alarm, so I really can't use the requested hack even if it was available. I just uninstalled ToDo+ because I really didn't use it enough. That was the only other program that created alarms on my Edge anyways. I was just wondering if the hack existed so I posed the question to you all.

I already have that app. All that does is turn off ALL the system/alarm sounds. The Visor Edge has a silent alarm feature but it only seems to work (and will only ever work) with the datebook+ app.

What about VolumeDA? I use it to just silence the alarms but the game and system sounds are left untouched.

Again the point of my message has been missed, I must not have explained this correctly. Also, if you have an Edge then you'll understand the point of the post.

Anyways, the Edge has a actual hardware light on it (in the right lower corner) that flashes when the DB+ alarms are set to Silent Mode. The M50x Palms have this similar feature.

What I want is a shortcut/graffiti stroke or hack that switches from "Sound Mode" to "Silent Mode".

I don't need something that just kills the volume, I need something that switches the mode.

Ahhh.... now I see/read the problem. You have an Edge.

Apologies all over--- some of us read messages based on subject and not on forum names from the new topics view... which doesn't have the forum names (and also reading on a Visor, so avatars don't help in that department).

The problem, as I understand it, is that the documentation on how it works in HS' 3.5.x OS is not widely available (not available = not a lot for a developer to do in the interim :-( It was bad enough that it was implemented in a different manner than the Attention Manager.

No problem, I can see where the confusion lies.

Unfortunately the Attention Manager didn't come out until OS4. HS had no way of implementing the silent alarm with the Attention Manger, probably because they didn't know about it. I would think that the licensees don't get notified of the OS improvements till after Palm has put it out (maybe I'm wrong about that).

Anyways... It looks as if the silent alarm will only work with DB+ until HS modifies the code with a patch or some developer finds a trap to hack into, which will probably never happen.

Thanks for your help..............

The new topics view does have the forum names (at least on a full-fledged browser). The third named column is the forum (Thread name, Thread starter, Forum name, ...).
