New Springboard camera from Targus
Targus has now officially introduced the Targus HandCam Springboard digital camera, which we first got a glimpse of during Comdex.

I would like to know if this will enable the visor itself to be a webcam (connected via the usb cradle) or what? How will the webcam work?

I'd love to see a review and a comparison vs. the Eyemodule 2.
This new one has more features and is 1/2 the price of a new Eyemodule 2.
I also wonder about the battery. EM2 didn't like my rechargable alkalines. I assume this would be similar.

I, too, am interested in a comparison between the EM2 and the HandCam! The other question that I have is that: Can the pictures taken by the HandCam be read by SplashPhoto? Any comment? I guess that I must wait ... 8-(
Drool. I can't wait.
A thing I'd like to see covered in a review:
How exactly does the Handcam store images? Does it create a separate PDB for each photo, or does it lump them all into monolithic DB files like the Eyemodule? Can images be moved into external memory and back (I would hope so given the Handcam's 2mb of flash) without problems? How does the conduit work?
It would be great if each image was stored as a separate file... it would make writing third-party extraction utilities a whole lot easier

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?
RRRG! "available late November", and here it is the 29th already and I can't buy one yet!
Been wanting a cheap webcam, and love the swivel head idea- I love my eyemodule (1), but this is just too good a deal! I bet we see a lot of eyemodules go up for sale pretty soon!
While my guitar gently weeps...
I'm still waiting for a module cam that will capture half a dozen shots at 1.1 megapixels. 640x480 is just so 1997.
So where is this HandCam? The only info I can found about it is on our very own VisorCentral site.
P.S. the EyeModule I is $69.95 on PalmGear. Gee!

Handcam in Europe available
What is the use of the wonderful handcam, if a handspring user can not get it in Europe (300 Mio.People, once currency, the ...)
I bought one last week. It doesn't work. Specifically, what doesn't work is the hot sync of pictures between the camera and the desktop.
I have called Targus Tecnical Assistance 5 times. The first time I got bad advice, after I did what they said I couldn't hotsynch at all, it was as if my USB ports had disappeared.
After I undid that, I called back, and they didn't know what to do. On the fourth call, my problem was forwarded to "upper level" tech support. Later that day I got an email from Dan Imblum, he sent me a file that he said would fix the problem. It did make it so .jpg on the PC already but I still can't send pictures I take with the Handcam to the PC. So what good is that?
Well, just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work at all. I installed my handcam on my WinME PC and I've not had a single problem with the conduit.
