-- Is poor backlighting standard? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2143)
After using my GVDX for about 10 days I've decided that I'm not happy with the quality of the backlighting. Specifically, in low level light, the screen is difficult to see with or without the backlighting. Is anyone else experiencing this?
The main problem seems to be the contrast. Modifying the contrast did not help.
I compared the legibility of my GVDX with a friend's Palm Pilot (a non-inverted type of backlighting). The Palm Pilot seemed to have a much sharper screen when backlit (I can't remember what it was like without b/l).
Further, I've experimented with InvertHack which doesn't seem to help (I think because the problem is contrast and not the method of backlighting).
I believe I would like the "inverted" backlighting if there was greater contrast since I think the white letters on a black background are easier on the eyes.
After reading many posts, it seems that the backlighting quality may vary from Visor to Visor. I realize this can be very subjective, but, has anyone else experienced this?
the backlighting on my BVD is simply AWFUL
It is, in fact, the one thing I do not like about the visor and I have advised friends that if they will use their PDA in low light, the Visor may not be the one for them. Thankfully, I rarely need the backlight on mine and it has yet to really effect my use of the Visor.
The back light on my Win/CE unit is MUCH MUCH better but eats batteries like so much breakfast sausage

Get GreenLightHack.

It doesn't solve the problem, but it makes it a whole lot easier to live with.
