Question HandyGPS Pro VS. Magellen which is better??

I am a new visor Platinum owner,(In fact I haven't even got it yet) and I want to get GPS. I would like to know which is better, the Magellen, HandyGPS Pro, or the Geode?

Thanks in advance.

Well Geode pretty much went out of business.

HandyGPS uses proprietary software and therefore not compatible with anything other than their own. Also, there are people who have made comments that its hard to get/keep fixes with the HandyGPS.

Magellan seems to be the best solution for right now, although may be very bulky, it acquires fixes quickly and I have found can even keep these fixes while indoors. Plus it's NMEA compatible so you can use different GPS programs with it.

The HandyGPS Pro I have no experience nor have I heard anything except the fact that it uses proprietary software just like the original.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the response, it appears that most people think that the Magellen is the best, but I have read a couple posts out there that seemed to think the HandyGPS Pro was great stuff, and yet I can't find any write ups or reviews on it.

The handy GPS pro is pretty new so that's probably why there aren't any reviews. It does allow for an external antenna which may overcome any fix problems it may have.

Maybe I could get my hands on one.. Nexian's corporate headquarters are practically right across the street from my apartment (not literally but it's pretty close)

I think a lot of people are reluctant to try the Handy GPS Pro because the original sucked so much. I own the Magellan and its pretty good, the NMEA compatability comes in handy since the new version of Mapopolis has GPS support.

Cool

I just got my Magellan GPS Companion, and it ROCKS!!! I usually get a fix in >10 sec. I have one quick question for any one out there. Where do I go to get updated maps?

All help is appreciated
