-- free COLOR ROM!!! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11514)

I'm so excited.. I got my ROM from my VPL, and was playing around in POSE. So I than just though what the VPR case would look like, and all of of sudden I'm in 16 bit color! The reason for this is, fo course is that the VPL and the VPR have excatly the same ROM's. So that gives us VPL users the developing power of the Prisms!!! Unluckly my bench mark show's it 58% the speed of a Palm IIIe, compared to my natvie 204% on my VPL.. Oh well just phyced.. Just wanted everyone to know!

Kinda makes one wonder if a Platinum owner could swap out the B&W screen for the color screen and have the equivelant of a Prism. Other than the Prism's rechargeable battery, what are the other differences?

OK, the case front is mirrored, supposedly because of the color screen's backlight orientation. Is the extra thickness also because of the color screen? If someone is making a thinner color screen for the upcoming color thin palm, then perhaps that screen could be retrofit into a Platinum.

Just pondering.

I was talking to someone who had a VPL, and the cases are entirly different. The VPL has half of the circuit board on the front, and the other half on the back while the VPR has all of the circuits and screen on the front part of teh casing. Because of the SB slot, and the color screen, it is not possible to use a VPL case for a VPR.

The EL backlight circuitry wouldn't be there and that is a major part of the Prism's screen and case/power design. If you somehow remotely did it, your AAA batteries would last an hour and die.

Question How?

Alright...how did you do it exactly? I downloaded the ROM from my Platinum using the instructions from the message board here, and it works with POSE fine. But, when I loaded ROM with the Prism skin, it's still black and white. The background is white like it's supposed to be in color, but there's no other color displayed but black. I'm curious what you did...I'd like to see how things look on a Prism (well, on my computer screen at least ) Thanks...
