Two things

First, a #4 error isn't necessarily AT&T. I have Verizon service on mine, although it was still an IP problem.

Second, you can't use the instructions from anyone else - everyone has their own IP address. It's how you have always on connectivity.

Talking YY will be ok!

I am glad to hear that YY will not be going under. According to the last news posting, they will be making an improved YY!

Any problems we're having now is only temporary....I'm feeling very relieved!

Mike

Flash updates for the Minstrel

Johnking posted the following thread http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...?threadid=14407 it has links for un-posted flash updates for the Minstrel. I installed the YadaYadaHS.exe update. This program flashed the Minstrel and wiped off everything leaving only an updated Email program and YadaCW. No Yada launcher No browser. I havent tried any of the other downloads available from this link yet. Where he got the link fromI dont know? Getting rid of the Launcher and the old black and white browser is great. Now all I need is for Eric to return my call and get me back online here in NY.

If the new update gets rid of the browser and launcher,
does that mean they dont have anymore programmers to
support their browser and launcher?

Posted by Anomaly on 04-26-2001 02:01 AM:

It doesn't get rid of the the software. Maybe the instructions from that link need to be followed more closely.

Download the file and install it to the Visor. Then insert the Minstrel and execute the Update program. Remove the Minstrel and then re-insert it. It will then copy all the necessary software to the Visor - e-mail and browser.

So far I like it, it executes much quicker.

What Eric did was call Verizon and ask them to re-set your IP address. You can DIY as well. If you go to Verizon's sute you can find a tech support number fot their CDPD service. I called and told the gent that I used Verizon's services through a reseller, and that i needed my IP address reset. Two minutes later I was back on.

This only works if the connection is fine except for the third checkbox.

Connection problem

Hi all,

This morning I got the following error message after insert my Minstrel S (fully charged):
A connection with the Minstrel is not available. Please select to reconnect or cancel the operation.

Everything was working fine last Friday. Could anyone tell me what is wrong with my connection/Minstrel S/???

Many thanks.

I get that error every so often. I used to backup, then hard reset, then insert modem, then restore.... but if you look earlier in this thread and you'll see a post where someone suggests just going to the minstrel connection settings in Prefs (in Visor OS) and hitting the script button. That seems to work.

When I saw that I had friends at YY, I felt all warm and gooey inside, but then I got pissed that they never answered my call. What kind of friends would blow me off like that? I have feelings too, y'know! And if they're my friends, how come they didn't offer me their extra ticket to the Brittany concert? Huh? HUH???

My service is working fine, btw.

Connection problem fixed

Thank you Prismenvy. That did the trick. My VPL crashed over the weekend for no reason. Does anyone experience crash when the batteries power is really low? Mine did and I appreciate having both the Backup Module and BackupBuddy.

Also SpeakerCoach you may try turning the Minstrel S on via the PowerSwitch. That's what I do when I get that message

Registration Error 4

Hi all,

I am getting this error quite often now. It's a drag to call in to YY and wait for Eric to reset the IP address again. Does anyone experience the same problem?

Posted by christo1970 on 05-03-2001 09:44 PM:

Post Twice for me

Eric has reset mine twice now...but two days in a row I'm connecting at -80 dBm's (whatever those are!)

I thought it may have been because I did the yada and novatel updates...
