Question

Has anyone successfully built a Springboard of his or her own?

Nope, but I'm thinking seriously about trying to build an X10 Remote control Springboard out of the 'fire cracker' interface (wireless). I just need to get my hands on some information about springboard technology (spec sheets, etc.).. Where do I get these? And do they cost money?

The Handspring Development Kit manual has complete details of the Springboard. Also, their Developer section has tons of useful information.

Taki, Do you know more about this CF adapter? I went to the website and it looks like a PC card for wireless internet connection that has been adapted for the springboard slot. I would LOVE to build or buy one to work in the US!

That's a great site. If you go to the main page, there are links to other 'projects'. There's one link to a page with a disected visor. Kinda cool.

SuperStream,

The guy used a modem made for CF slot made by a Japanese cell phone company. Some people use it with TRG Pro, too. I don't think the modem itself works in the US. If there is a CF slot modem sold here in US, the SpringBoard may work.

These guys bought a hand-made spiringboard kit from Zak Lab web page. The kit consists of base board, connector(?) & case. He made 50 sets, and selling them for 5,000 yen(about $50) each. I don't know how many he has sold so far but he says in the page if there are enough people who wants to buy it, he'll make more.

Dang it! I can't make heads or tails out of the CF adaptor page! It looked like a How-To type page too, can anybody post/mirror a translation of it? Please!

Theo,

I can understand Japanese but the problem is, the page has a lot of technical info(which I have no idea). He developed both the Spring board & the software that works with it. I can try e-maling the guy and see if he can post the info in English.

That would be absolutely wonderful, Taki. Thank you. I don't have the skills to make one of these, but I think I know people who do. Besides, considering how high this particular want seems to rank on the various wish-lists, there's bound to be someone out there who can build these and get them on the market for those of us who can't.

Hi theo and all,

I just got an e-mail back from ttrmkr, who made that CF adapter. He is planning to make his page available in English soon
