-- need better integrated apps (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=640)
I recently upgraded from an Apple Newton 120 to a handspring.
I love the size and speed of the visor compared to the newton
However, the Newton had mech better functionality:
-from the phone book you could enter birthdays, aniversaries, ect...,
and have them show up in the callendar automatically
-when setting up an appt or meeting in the newton, it lets you enter
locations and attendies ( it lets you select from the phone book)
-you can do batch functions, ie select a group of contacts and either
file, delete or copy them in one shot. I think with the
handspring you have to do one at a time.
If anyone has info on 3rd. party software to add the above functionality
please let me know.
Allen,
The Palm/Visor OS lets you add names to a meeting by selecting phone lookup. This is accessed by a short cut command which is a /L. The slash in this case is an angled stroke starting at the bottom and moving diagnolly up and to the right followed by the L.
However, I use a program called Action Names by Iambic Software. You can try this program by going to www.palmgear.com and searching for the aboved name program.
It coordinates your meetings, calls and to do with your contact list. It also allows you to view the calendar in a slightly different view then the built in datebook+ application. Also, some people like the application called datebook3 which is also available at palmgear. It takes the datebook+ and enhances it dramatically because it is the built by the same people.
If you like to track your phone calls, I also use a program called Phone Log by handshigh. It too can be found at PalmGear.
I'd suggest browsing a little at PalmGear because this is the best place I have found to find software and they just announced an agreement with Handspring.
Most of the software at PalmGear is shareware or even some freeware so you can try before you buy.

For adding B'days and Anniv. you can try DateMate at www.palmMate.com.

I have not tried this app, but I happened to see it in a magazine a few weeks ago. I had forgotten about it, and just ran across it again today.
They advertise as being able to determine what to do with an entry in MemoPad (parse it to Datebook, ToDo, etc.).
