Question

There is a web site under construction called www.visor.net. Any information re: this site. Who? What? Why?

Jeff Hawkins of Handspring has registered that site. They are probably just protecting the name. (I am sure they would have grabbed Visor.com if it hadn't been taken already.) They also grabbed SmartHand.com which was another possible name for the product.

Here's the whois info on it:

>Registrant:
>HANDSPRING, INC. (VISOR2-DOM)
>299 California Avenue
>PALO ALTO, CA 94306
>US
>
>Domain Name: VISOR.NET

Domain was created on March 23 of this year.

Opinion? Mine is that Handspring set it up to 'protect' it (as I mentioned in another post, it's not unusual for a company to register domains with the product name in them, then do nothing more), or they have plans for its use at some point, but are no where close to implementing them.

BTW, the Under Construction page is a default one at Network Solutions (formerly the InterNIC guys). That means Handspring hasn't even set up use of the domain at a host provider.

I just looked ... some guy in Brooklyn owns visor.org. (No site there, but they do own the name.)
