-- Survey: How do you carry the Visor? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3882)

Back when I had my Palm IIIe I tried out various cases, and stuck with the Bumper for a while, because I did drop my palm once and it got a couple of ugly scratches on the corner of it. That case got annoying after a while, because I prefer to carry my Palm in my pocket With my Visor, I first started using the leather slip-case that came with it, but, again, it was too big. So now I'm just a lazy fool and I use the hard clip-on screen cover. But it works pretty well, so I'll just have to wait until something bad happens before I switch.

On another note...when the larger springboards come out like the @ctivelink and the minijam, how are you guys planning to carry your palm? I'm thinking there's gonna be some case manufacturers making cases that fit a palm with a minijam or @activelink installed, for instance, but I'm not sure. That's one of the reasons I've held off buying a visor case...

That's what I use (the leather one with velcro closure), but I bought mine specifically for the Visor since I rathered the look of it to the snap-in Handspring case.

Where do you get this case?

Where'd you find that holster, Jerry?

The answer to both of your questions (where to get the E-Holster, where to get TI slider) were answered easily by 10 seconds worth of searching on www.google.com. In case you don't have time for this, here are the results:
http://www.eholster.com/ - to get the E-Holster
http://www.rhinoskin.com/ - to get the TI Slider case.

Try http://www.e-holster.com for more info. If I was in a job where I had to wear a coat, I'd consider it, but wearing it over a shirt is probably a bit higher geek factor than I care to have at work.

Yeah.... if I had to wear a suit jacket to work, I'd be all about wearing this e-holster. However, I don't think it would look too cool with the shorts and t-shirt I usually wear to work. I try to keep my electronics as inconspicuous as possible - I have my visor in a slim leather case which I keep in one side pants pocket, and I carry my cell phone (the little Sanyo 'Snickers bar'-sized phone) in the other pocket... I don't want people Gawking at my Gadgets. ;-)

I also use the EB Slipper with belt clip and love it. I don't have any problem releasing it with one hand. I do wear the clip up-side down, with the release button at the bottom. I find that my Visor hangs better that way and it is easier to release with one hand. I love the product.

I used a reset pin from a PALM Pen. It is not long enough to reach the visor's reset button so it won't damage anything. Just put the visor in the case, use the reset pin to 'feel' where the reset hole is, push through and VOILA you got yourself a custom made reset hole. You can barely notice it.

Good luck!

I use a RhinoPak 2000 out of the office with an eyemodule in the outside front pocket, my Ice Visor Deluxe in the inside front pocket, and my Stowaway also on the inside.

When I'm in the office, I put my Visor in a slim Handspring wallet.

Hi Folks:

To get information on the eholster go to:
http://www.eholster.com/

As to its geekness, well that's an individual call. For me its functionality over preceived appearance. I figure the eholster is no more strange/geekish than various dyed hair colors people sport, various visable body piercings some folks have, back packs, bicycle courier packs, butt packs, and so on and so forth.

I do not like things hanging from my belt (they tend to get damaged), nor do I like the weight of things when placed either in my shirt or pants pockets. So for me the eholster fits the bill. You do get some initial razzing from friends and coworkers, but is subsides fairly quickly.

I rarely wear a jacket so the eholster is always in full view. You do get strange looks from some folks, every now and then, but that's their problem. I have also worn the eholster through numerious airports (Denver, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Reno to name a few) with no problems going through security. They hardly give it a second glance. And if you don't set off their metal detectors they could care less. It is also interesting how many people, who look but don't really see, think you're wearing a backpack.

If you get one, leather is definately the way to go. I initialy had the basic model (nylon) while a friend of mine got the leather (he has to carry two cell phones, a pager, plus his PDA) I traded up to the leather within a week. Leather looks, feels and wears a lot nicer.

The one thing I didn't like was that the company places a sticker on the back advertising the product in BIG white letters. I removed it after a couple of weeks since I didn't feel like being a walking bill board. It's just stuck on with double sided tape and pulls off relitively easily, although it takes some effort to remove the remaining goo.

Overall I am extremely please with my eholster and would recommend it to anyone for their consideration.

Take care,
Jerry

To those of you who use the E-Holster... it kinda looks like from the way it hangs, that it would get in the way of your arms while typing. It looks like I would have to hold my elbows a bit further out from my body in order to type properly. Perhaps this is a more ergonomically correct way to do it... but I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on that.

Gotta put in my vote for my Rhodiana w/belt clip. Used to have a Slipper but didn't care for the velcro "closures" so I sold it. It would take a mighty impressive case to make me give up my Rhodiana.

Has anyone had experience with Yak Paks? They have some interesting looking things - look at the Hands-Free Tech Sling and the Tech Vest on this page:
http://www.yakpak.com/dept.asp?dept_id=10

I think I'd be much more likely to wear one of these than an E-holster... they go with my t-shirt and shorts style a bit better, and provide some extra functionality. Looks like it would also work really well for trekking around the city, as well as in the office. If I had to wear a suit to work, or even just a button-down shirt and slacks, I might go for the e-holster, since it looks more professional.

The first two things I thought of when I saw the E-Holster were: 1) The calculator holsters used on the Mathnet segment of the PBS kids show "Square One" and 2) The Dilbert t-shirt I've seen around that says "Dominate with technical superiority" - and he has all these e-gadgets hanging on him. This isn't meant to be disparaging to e-holster users. I'm just making an observation on the possible source of amusement some people might get from seeing one in use. The e-holster is a great, utilitarian piece of equipment.

The way I wear mine I've had no problem typing. My elbows end up being in front of the pouches rather than outside of them.

Take care,
Jerry

So tell me, did you get the delux leather, the midrange ballistic nylon, or the el cheapo neophrene?

An internet friend of mine tried out the neophrene version and was disatisfied.

I initially got the cheapo neophrene within a week though I upgraded to the leather (a friend of mine had gotten the leather so it was easy to compare between the two). The Leather is a lot more professional looking. I was able to return the neophrene and pay the difference between the two.

Take care,
Jerry

EB Slipper w/o belt clip - I usually carry the Visor either in my bookbag/briefcase or in my left pants pocket like the other guys do.

Synergy Flip Case with belt clip. One handed release, always ready.

(I attached the velcro to the hardcover so I can exchange modules easily.)

I'm using the cheapo Handspring Belt Clip case, with the leather slipcase over it. Doesn't look half bad, but the belt clip leaves a bit to be desired - the spring is weak, and thus only really works well on a belt. I'm thinking of getting the leather case for the Palm III, since that will completely cover my VDx.
