THAT"S ALL I WANT! HOW hard can it be to put a digital recorder into a module???????

Now i'm getting impatient.

Thumbs up

Took the words right out of my mouth! :-)

Check this out. Sounds like the Word Access will be out WAY before the SixPak.

(If one looks up the definition of 'vaporware' in a dictionary there is a picture of the SixPak)

I saw an ad for a Targus-branded voice recording module in the most recent 'Portable computing' magazine (or was it 'Mobile computing'? I can't remember...)
Anyway, I checked the web site but couldn't find anything posted yet.

With all the hype and angst surrounding the SixPak, I would've much preferred an InnoPak with voice recording and 2MB of flash memory. There's no shortage of standalone modules for modems, flashing lights, vibrating alarms and flash memory.

The Zen of Palm demonstrates that people would rather buy something simple, inexpensive and useful than something complicated, expensive and extravagant

EXACTLY!

I don't need flashing lights and funky alarms and vibrating Visors....I'd like to use that little microphone to make quick voice notes while walking through the plant.

When i first bought the visor (what seems like YEARS ago!) back in novemeber, i thought a modem would be 'neat' but my main purpose for purchasing it was for the general PIM use and (what i thought would be sooner than later) a voice recording module.

I've heard of/seen demonstrations of 3. Digital-5 seems to have a cool one that can be used without the visor (imagine a module sized voice recorder that you could carry around!), then Innogear tempts us with an InnoPak voice recorder, and Targus seems to have one in the works....

which brings me back to my first post and original question...how difficult can this be? I understand that companies are focusing on the 'big time' modules (GPS, multi-function, etc.) but this should be a module you could give to an intern to design in a few months over the summer!
