Question

Sorry if this post seems out-of-place, but I haven't been able to find much information regarding the screen on the Visor (or any Palm device for that matter). The Visor FAQ says its screen is an 8-color grayscale, yet all Palm apps I've ever seen are 1-bit monochrome.

Are there any applications that utilize the grayscale? Do 3Com Palm devices have grayscale screens as well? And is it complicated to develop grayscale programs?

Thanks in advance,

Sam Stephenson

Cool

The screen is able to display 16 different greyscales, so do all the new Palm models.

Most applications only use black and white. But some make use of all the greyscales. An example is ImageViewer.

AlbumToGo is a free app that uses grayscale quite nicely. It has a Windows exe that lets you convert a JPG to a Palm-compatible format, and the Palm-based viewer has a great slideshow feature that lets you choose from a variety of screen wipes/fades.
