OK, can anyone help? I seem to need a simple step-by-step guide to figure out how to use my new Handspring Modem with a free ISP- either NetZero or BlueLight.

My main ISP is Cox@Home cable modem (love it!!!), but they charge for phone-line hook ups. The service rep told me to try Exite's free ISP (which vanished some time ago, like most of the rest!).

Anyway, I wanna:
1. Be able to use one of the free ISP's to sign in on my Visor Deluxe,
2. Check my Yahoo E-mail account,
3. and do other stuff on the 'Net, especially when I am on vacation, etc.

Any good web sites, personal pages, etc. that can help??

I just went through the same problem with my new handspring modem. The information in the link above is extremely useful. Give it a try. It works.

I could never get Netzero to work with my visor. When you use RASSPY to figure out your real login, it looks like Netzero's software rotates this, so you can't login with your PDA. I haven't tried Bluelight.

I had success with Juno though. It works pretty well. I use Juno with the Browse-it application. Just make sure to login to Juno via your desktop with their software every once in a while. It seems to keep their system happier and they don't shut you down.

I have just used Bluelight. You do have to use Rasspy to get the correct username/password.

OK- I have put 'rasspy.exe' in my Windows/system32 folder, and added 'rasspy cmd=' in front of the 'target' in the 'properties' window for both NetZero and Bluelight, and get a invalid path message.

What am I messing up here?

Been ot the recommended link earlier, and it is good, but I still seem to be missing something. I'll try them again!

Thank you, Mark- adding the 'C:\windows\system32\rasspy.exe cmd=' fixed the problem with RASSPY!

Now- I got the codes for Bluelight (still having some problems on Juno), but get hung up during the log-on.

I am also having problems using my computer to log on to phone services- getting a hardware problem that is not showing up in any diagnostics I know.

Sheesh!

I 'may' just giove up and go to a low-cost yearly program such as Scouter.net or ATT's Worldnet.

Would it help- is it any easier??

Yes, it seems that Netzero and some others (DotNow) use something like a DHCP on a network--the login name changes every time you log in.

Switching to ATT worldnet

Switching to a low-cost provider is definitely, well, better. Using a free service is fine---but the reason it's free is because they track your usage of the net for information purposes, research, etc. If you use rasspy to get around this, you're kind of abusing the system. That being said, I've tried it. Netzero seems to have found a way around this. I just used Rasspy to find out the real login for my ATT service, which uses a weird set of software as well (that hides your real login). I don't feel bad about it b/c I'm paying for the service.
