-- Thinmodem+ to Company RAS (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14263)

Posted by rthib on 04-20-2001 04:32 PM:

I love my new Thinmodem+, only problem I have is when I try and connect to my company intranet.
When I connect from my Windows PC it prompts me for a Name/Password and Domain.
I do not know of anyway to do same from network connection on Visor. I can connect (modem says connected) but I can not ping any systems.
Anyone have any ideas what I need to tell our tech support people to do, so I can dial in with my Visor?

Since dial-up RAS servers vary so much in their configuration (hence the need for IT professionals), one suggestion is to download some support documents from Palm that describe using the scripting functions for dialu-up networking in the Palm OS. Then, feed these documents to your IT department along with a loaner Visor so they can get it all set up.

Found the Answer

Thanks for the advice, from reading the Palm Docs the answer was easy.

If your company uses a Domain controler put that infront of you name:

Example: NT Login is
Name: JohnDoe
Password: 1234
Domain: VISOR

on Palm:

Name: VISOR\JohnDoe
Password: 1234

It was just that easy...

I had problems at first with my D56 Shiva and my proxy server running RADIUS authentication due to a Shiva problem. But once I got the Shiva fixed and everything working.... Whooohooo is it great.

I have an 888 dialin number...when I went to Kansas City couple of weeks ago it worked so sweet! Only bad thing is that I realized now that I got Palm/VNC that I NEED COLOR!!!!! Controlling my desktop is no fun on 2 bit grayscale......
