Question Increased Battery Usage ???

I have used my Visor Deluxe for one and half years. I recently found that my VD is getting to consume more batteries. In the past, 2 AAA batteries could be used for 1 month. But now, it lasts for 2 weeks.

Do you have the same problem?

If you are using AAA rechargables, they may be dying and you'll need a new set. If not, well, maybe try soft resetting. Perhaps the serial port is out of wack.

I saw a decrease in battery life when I had more stuff on my visor. I gather it draws more power based on how much memory is filled, as it doens't need to "remember" anything in the empty memory areas.

I too encountered the same problem. My VDX is 18 months old and all of a sudden a couple of weeks ago I went through 3 sets of batteries in 2 weeks whereas before I could get 28 to 34 days.

No changes or new apps and same kind of batteries.

I have since deleted Avantgo and after letting the Visor set 'dead for about 4 days, things seem to be working fine now after one week. But of course now I have the fear factor everytime I turn it on and check the battery indicator.

I have seen a few other posts regarding a similar pattern but have seen no real solutions.

Just a suggestion: If you don't "beam" data that often, turning off Beaming in the Preferences will save you some battery life. Only downside is, you'll (of course) need to actively turn on beaming when you want to send/receive something.

Just a thought.

(I have an Edge, so battery life is almost a non issue with the rechargable batteries)
