In the immortal words of Rob Schneider... "You Can Do It!"

(If you have seen Rob in any of his movies or SNL, you'll understand the quote, if you haven't, oh well )

Thumbs up

I would hope that all you Visor Edge owners are writing Handspring about this one. That way Handsprings sees how big of a problem this is and starts to come up with a fix. I was thinking of getting an Edge but now I might hold off. I don't want to have to return my Edge every few months. Anybody know when the new HS will be released. Hopfully with plastic buttons.

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill!

This is NOT a great big problem! My Edge's stylus does discolor after about three or four weeks. I take a cloth, wipe it down, and it's good as new!

I certainly would NOT want plastic in lieu of the metal form the Edge has!

I happen to really like the form factor, flip cover, and just about everything else about my Edge~!

To each his own!

Foo,

What color is your Edge?

I no longer have an Edge. Right now I'm using a Palm M505. But the Edge I did have was silver.

Why did you get rid of it? Just because of color? Why didn't you like it ?

I LOVED my Edge! But I returned it for two reasons; 1. Everyone here was reporting serious problems with the early units, and I had the very first one here. 2. I really...REALLY wanted a color screen, so naturally, I jumped on the M505.

Aside from that, I think the Edge is an excellent device. Very sexy.

I see.

I have the M505 and looking to down grade. I need the cash for a other things right now. Looking for a good 8mg unit in Monochrome so I am nautrally thinking about the Edge. Not to nuts on the smaller screens of the M10x serious and M500 it to expensive. After reading these post its kind of scaring me off. I might wait for the next generation HS.

Hmm...if, by "down grade", you mean a monochrome PDA, I would suggest the SONY Clie 320 over any other monochrome PalmOS device.

You can get one for $179.

It comes with an 8mb Memory stick.

And most importantly...it has the best backlight of any monochrome device on the market. The same old backlight from the early Palm III.

Hey, I forgot to mention, if your not necessarily stuck on PalmOS, take a look at the iPaq 3100. It has a mono display, but still offers all the bells and whistles like MP3 playback, and they are selling for around $150

I am think Palm os and yes monochorme screens are cheaper. I was also thinking HS because I have smart media for my digital camera right now . That why I could get a smart media module and share the disks.

One man's mountain is another man's molehill. For a $400 device they could have used something that wouldn't tarnish like stainless steel. When someone pays $400 for a piece of equipment they don't expect the product to look like **** after 3 hours of use. If that's acceptable to you then that's your preference, IMO I don't want something that has black tarnished buttons after playing a game. Yes, it's easily fixable (with a polish cloth) but it shouldn't had happen in the first place. If HS had done a little more R&D on the product they would have seen this to be an issue and changed the process.

no tarnishing here yet...I occasionly wipe it down with my shirt or something. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones!

Everybody has to piss and moan about something. The edge is (now) $300 and it tarnishes. Period. If you don't want to spend that much for a device that tarnishes then send it back and tell HS why. Find one that doesn't and be happy. Plastic sounds like it'd be right up your alley.

I've had my Edge since pretty early in the game, and I've got no tarnishing. Period.

That's incredible. I've had about 6 and they've all tarnished to some degree.

Unhappy

I had my Edge for about a month and did notice some tarnishing. Not severe, but noticeable. TarnX seemed to help the situation to some degree, but its not a permanent solution.

I'm pretty sure the problem would have gotten worse over time. The real question is whether you can live with it or not.

Just to throw in on this --

I've had two and no tarnish problems --

Maybe it's a body chemistry thing.
