Has anyone tried the MoreIO keyboard?

I was perusing eBay and noticed a keyboard for the Visor that I haven't seen elsewhere by a company called MoreIO. I went to check their Web site, and they're selling these portable keyboards for $59.95. Doesn't look like you get any text editing software, but I already use WordSmith so that's not a problem.

The dimentions are only 7" wide. I love my Stowaway but I have been looking for a smaller keyboard that I can use on my lap... I'd been considering the Go! Type keyboard from Landware but this one even seems smaller (BUT looks like you can touch type, unlike all the recent slew of thumb-boards out there).

Anyone seen this or tried this out before? I'd be interested to see if you liked it, and how easily you could type with it.

Question

How could this be for both the Edge _and_ the Prism? Don't those two have different size connectors?

I hope their development department isn't as sloppy as their marketing dept.

Yeah... the details on their site are confusing. It says "PDA Portable Keyboard for Handspring VISOR Edge and Prism", while the photo shows a blue Deluxe attached to the keyboard.

I've sent them an email asking for clarification (and to see if they're interested in providing a unit for review ).

Oh cool. Thanks Mark. Hope they come through because I would be interested in a review. In particular, the photos make the keyboard appear to be a "real" keyboard instead of a flat (but bumpy) style (like some of the thumb boards). It's kind of hard to tell how big each key is -- it's got to be pretty small and I'm thinking it's probably close to that of a Psion 5 or so... in particularly, I'd want to know how easy it is to touch type on it.

In the meantime I went ahead and bought a Go! Type keyboard. Yeah yeah, I've already had my Stowaway since well, I pre-ordered it from Targus as soon as their online order form was ready. I LOVE my Stowaway except that it's totally useless when you don't have a desk or tabletop on which to work. I'm going to have to start commuting to work on BART and I'm hoping to be able to do some writing while I'm sitting there doing little else, so Go! Type it is. I'll just enjoy both.

Have you seen those "roll-up" PC keyboards? They are completely rubber covered and waterproof. Yes, you really can roll them up like a magazine or newspaper. I have even seen one that is Palm-comptible. It's similar to this one, but i can't remember where I saw it at.

Here's the reply I got to my inquiry:
quote:
Our PDA keyboard is compatible with Visor series too and we are more then happy to send you a unit for your review on VisorCentral. You can email us a purchase order for it.
It's still unclear to me about compatability since the Edge uses an entirely different connector from the other models. I'm also unsure about whether they want me to purchase one for review... I've sent them another email asking for clarification on both issues.

Is this what you were thinking about? I can't find any more info regarding it, however...

Here's the reply I got from MoreIO regarding the compatibility of the keyboard with the Visor models:

quote:
Dear Mark,

The information I got from our oversea supplier indicates that our PDA keyboard only support Handsprings Visor and not for EDGE.

Our keyboard does come with a driver for setup.

Sincerely,

Johnson
MOREIO USA

I hope you weren't planning on using it with the Edge...
