According to Skipjack, the merchant (PDAOffer.com) has called to ask that all transactions be cancelled or credited back. Skipjack is in the process of doing this. We do not need to do anything at this point... it is automatic. Apparently CCNOW started the skepticism by questioning the business model and deciding that they didn't want to be involved in the risk on this one. Skipjack decided the same thing, and PDAoffer has agreed and asked that the transactions be discontinued.

So, we don't get em afterall, but we don't lose out either.

Oh well

interesting

quite interesting how they chose the method to increase traffic/hits to the web page, don't you think? I myself was one of the suckers which received cancellation from ccnow.

live and learn

What happened? Seems like all the previous pages from this thread are now gone.

Arrow Weird

Boy that is really weird. I was trying to find the last message I had read, and they all were gone! VisorCentral must be part of pdaoffer's grand plot.

What he said...

Luckily the site has vaporized completely. On the good side, I just used their ISP to host my domain name for $12 per year - cheap!

Hope the hosting service doesn't dry up too

ok, but what happened to the rest of this thread, VC?

Hm.. not sure... strange. I was trying to merge another thread into this thread earlier today, but that should not have deleted the initial one.

Looking for it....

Update: Can't find the posts anywhere in the database. Seems like the merge feature decided to purge all the messages.

Notice he didn't deny receiving kick-backs from pdaoffer.com. Hmmm. Is the click-through rate that low you have to go in on some shady "free visor" deals to fund our addiction, marcus?

Posted by Tyrone Slothrop on 05-03-2001 09:47 PM:

As I indicated I would do, I have filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Bureau of the FTC regarding pdaoffer.com. I'll post if I hear anything from the FTC in response to my complaint.

Exclamation Free VisorCentral!

Now you can have your own heavily trafficked website for free! Be one of the first 500,000 webmasters to own VisorCentral.com. Granted, there are only 8616 members, but when did that ever stop people from handing out their personal info? Simply go to www.geocities.com/vcoffer and give me your credit card number. What's the catch, you ask? Well, you have to carry banner ads from advertisers who'd like to remain unknown, but if you want to kick $9.95 a month my way, you can have server space on GeoCities. This offer is free for only $19.97 (domain registration fees, you know).

Angry Reply I got from Handspring about the "Free" Edge

Paul, the offer you are inquiring about is NOT legitimate. Our legal
department uncovered this scam yesterday and has taken the necessary action.
Thank you for notifying us.

Best regards,
Handspring.

Do you know anything about it? It seems like a good offer, but I'm leery.

Should I instead contact the FTC or BBB?

Thanks,
Paul Edwards

Crow doesn't taste that bad after you get past the feathers... BTW - Does your offer include domain email? Gonna need a new email address once I start getting SPAMMED

I'm curious if there are folks who ordered this that have not received notice that their order was cancelled. I've seen messages posted from ccnow cancelling, but what about the orders using skipjack?

In the original thread that is missing, someone had called or emailed SkipJack and SkipJack said that they were holding the processing of all orders until there was a confirmation of shipment.
