-- MiniJam and serial cradle: opinions? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8279)
Anyone using the MiniJam with a serial cradle? Is it unbearably slow?
USB only
I don't think you can actually use the serial cradle at all, since the minijam doesn't actually use the palm/handspring hotsync program in any way, innogear wrote their own transfer program for the minijam (thankfully, I wouldn't have to want to hotsync everytime I wanted to change the music on the MMC card). Their program is called MJLoader. I know this as I hotsync on my laptop and use MJloader on my desktop pc. On my desktop PC I don't have the hotsync program installed or even running at all.
And if you could it would be (really, really ) slow.
Time to upgrade to usb & win 98 or a USB enabled MAC.
In anycase you will want USB for the new MMC speed loader that is due out.. That will really be fast.
Time for Win2k
Another OS option is Windows 2000.
So does the documentation say that MJLoader is not compatible with serial cradles? As much as I want an mp3 player, I'm not giving up my Powerbook G3.
