PiBackup error #8018 and MemMgr.c error

I have a Visor Prism, OS 3.5.2H, and got 'Error #8018 backing up POMOCategoryDB.PDB' and an 'OK' button. This happens everytime I try to use PiBackup. I've erased, reinstalled 1.4, installed 1.6, and have CJKOS disabled and NO hacks enabled.

Also, I get a MemoryMgr.c, Line:4359, Free handle error when I try to enable PiDirect. This is a different error from the other MemoryMgr.c errors I believe. Has anyone encountered this? Any help would be appreciated

The first thing I would try is this.

Remove the MemPlug, and go into the PalmOS "Delete" app. Scroll down and see if there is an app called PiBackup or any Pi apps left over in RAM.

If there is, delete them. Then, perform a SOFT RESET.

This has happened to me with Beta4 and now Version 1.6. Once I deleted it and performed the Soft Reset, all my problems went away.

Hopefully this will help you. Please give it a try and if that does not work, mayble PI can help.

You can also go onto the Yahoo Forum where PiDeveloper frequents more often. Just go to the MemPlug home page and click FORUM.

I was hoping,
I was hoping,

GSR13, that you were right.

but nogo with my Prism. Still the same Memmgr 4359 error.

HEED,
try this so you don't lose patience and hard reset it all, again...like me.

Reset, but hold the UP button until your first screen comes up, then you can let go. Somehow, an app that gets run (called, whatever) is causing this conflict.

So far, w/v1.6, I've gotten mapopolis & splashphoto to work BUT I've never been able to restore a complete piBackup without errors.

At least I figured out that phlegm hack was causing issues AND CRASHING with memplug so I've replaced it with McPhling.

so now what?

gbgood, did you ever figure it out? I have a bunch of stuff on my module, so I'm not exactly able to reformat it. This is no fun. Oh, well. I turned it on one day, and it quit working and hasn't worked since. Maybe tomorrow I'll turn it on and it will work and continue to work from then on

heed,
Since Updater v1.6 have enhanced support in file transfer between smartmedia card and visor. Your problem may result from incompatible with previous backup data.

You could fix it without format your smartMedia card by delete the old backup directory, and do a fresh backup again.

Feel free to contact us if you still have any problem after that.

Wow! PiBackup seems to be working now...it's up to 55% and still going (I have a 16 meg prism, so it'll be awhile). I couldn't delete the whole directory at once, so I deleted the contents and then the directory. PiDeveloper, do you think that this could be the same problem with PiDirect? I did like everybody said, went through deleting Pi stuff after removing the module, soft resetting, BAM 'MemoryMgr.c, Line:4359, Free handle'. Any ideas? Hey, and I really appreciate all your help with all of our problems. Maybe you can give me advice on marital problems as well?

Well, could you give me more details on the problem you encountered?
You mean you soft-reset your Visor with MemPlug, and get the error,
Or you mean you soft-reset your visor without MemPlug, then get the error? Could you reproduce the problem?

Btw, the latest updater v1.6.1 is release. This update with PiDirect v1.01 which has fixed the conflict with Handspring Updater v3.5.2H1.4.

Please give it a try, and let me know if you still have any other problem.

Okay, when I try to run PiDirect, it starts to scan, then comes up with 'MemoryMgr.c, Line:4359, Free Handle' and I have to soft reset. So, after it reboots, I turn of the prism, remove the memplug, and go and delete any Pi{whatever} files (there are none). Even soft reset again for the fun of it w/o the memplug. Turn the prism off. Reinsert the memplug. Tap on PiDirect. Tap 'OK'. Check 'Disable after reset' and 'Disable during Hotsync'. Tap 'Enable'. Try to go back to applications, 'Scanning', FatalAlert...same error. Can I reproduce it? It happens every time I try to use PiDirect. I have files (8 files) in the PiDirect directory. I have version 3.5.2H OS and 1.6 memplug. I don't have the newest Handspring update; this has been happening long before that.

Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for reporting, we would like to reproduce the problem in order to study it.

Could you kindly let me know the following:
1. The memory status of your visor
2. Any hack master applications turn on in your visor
3. Which is your default launcher
4. Which applications you have put on your PiDirect directory

Please also update to MemPlug v1.6.1 which would also some potential problems in PiDirect.

And you could provide information and reach me by email with [email protected]

Thanks in advanced.

I was able to solve the problem after getting to my other computer (that has a working USB port), taking all data off smartmedia, reformatting smartmedia, updating software on memplug, and putting data back on smartmedia. A lot of work, but finally working now. Has anyone tried pidirect with the new version of Biblereader? Thanks for all the help PiDev

Unhappy PiBackup error #8018 and MemMgr.c error

I wish I could even get as far as you folks have...

I'm still waiting (4 days) for PiTech to send my registration number.

After installing the updater on their recommendation,
PiMover does not even allow me to try the fixes mentioned
in previous posts.

I ordered PiDirect (still don't have it),
hoping that would jog MemPlug to life.

Anyway, so far my MemPlug does nothing.

Hi Bruce,

Have you received your regCode for PiDirect yet?

And I do not understand your problem about "PiMover does not even allow me to try"

If you have any difficulty in using PiDirect or MemPlug. Please free feel to contact our support team.

[email protected]

Thx.

Talking

PiDeveloper,

Thank you for sending the regCode.

I will continue to try to get MemPlug working through Pi Support.

My apologies for trying a public forum to get the problem solved.
I was hoping someone would point out a basic error in my actions.

Although I am waiting for my 64 MB SM card to arrive, I did receive a tip that the Yahoo discussion group for MemPlug lists compatible software for PIDirect (see link below). Someone has reported BibleReader Pro version 3.30a6 is compatible (I have version 3.30d20 from OliveTree.com). I am still weighing my decision to purchase PIDirect based on the compatibility list and what kind of experience I have with the module.

PiDirect compability list (over 180 apps tested so far!):

(you need to join the Yahoo group first:
