Question

OK... First of all... I love my MACs (Have 3 of them)... but I m forced to use a PC at work (Have 2 of them).

Has any one tried the service from MSN and AvantGo? If so, how did you get it to work? Everytime I try to connect with my Visor Deluxe (Black) I get a error message stating an authentication error. Yes... I am sure my user name and password are correct. Is anyone else using the service and found a way around the problem?

Thanks!

Yep, I've got the same problem. I just purchased a Xircom modem for my Visor, and I got the same error message. I'm also sure that I typed in my login and password correctly.

I called MSN, and they were no help - they don't support non-MS operating systems. Now I know why Judge Jackson blasted them.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing them. I don't really care for MSN as an ISP (it's OK), but my wife likes it and uses it as her primary email address. Getting her to change will be a real pain, but I'd hate to sign up for a separate ISP just for my Visor.

The Yahoo portal had a similar problem and it was based on your username. if it contained numbers or was greater than a certain number of characters, then people got this message(?) or it wouldn't log them in.

Try changing your username? I know this is like comparing oranges to grapefruits, but they are both juicy!

Hmmm...

I'm not sure if this answers your question Mac Lover, but maybe for VTL it will.

I connect to MSn with my Visor and the Handspring Modem by putting MSN/UserName in the username field under the network connection for MSN.

My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

I'll try it. Thanks Fillipe. This is why VisorCentral is so great.

It Worked....

Felipe! Placing MSN/ infront of the username worked. Now... how about another answer... I got connected, but got the following error message when trying to update or load a page:

Error 5453 Cannot Find Server or there was a DNS error

Any ideas how to fix?

Could this be a problem with the modem string?

Also, I know that with MSN they control what OS can connect. That's one of the reasons they do not have service for any other platform other than Windows. I use Netscape as my default browers (just my small way of protest...) and if you go into "HELP" for MSN it will not allow you to use Netscape to get help... you must use Explorer. So... if you use MSN, they control the fact that you can NEVER delete Explorer from your system. My opinion... Judge Jackson was RIGHT!

Thanks!

Every time my computer says this it means that I have lost my connection, or it timed out.
I don't have a modem for my Visor, but I hope this helpes.

Cool

Fillipe:

Thanks, your suggestion worked. I was able to use my new SpringPort over MSN to surf with minimal problems last night.
