Refurbished prism?

I would like to buy a Visor prism, but the $300 price tag is out of my range. Looking on the web, I see you can get a refurbished prism for about $180 from various website, or about $230 from HAndspring. I have a few questions about these.

1) Has anyone gotten any of these models? Are they worthwhile? Or are the "cosmetic damages" enough to actually detract from the appearance of the PRism?

2) Is the 90 day warranty good enough? I like the full year warranty with the regular prism, but is 90 days good enough to find out if there are any problems? Have there been any hassles exchanging the Prism if there is a problem?

3) WIth the offers from the non-Handspring website, do you still get the slip cover with the Prism?

Thanks!

Chris

Talking No problems here

I picked up a refurb prism at my local Fry's Electronics store for $169.00 and as you mentioned it comes with a 90 day warranty. I didn't find any cosmetic damage on mine, nor any scratches or scuffs. So far I am pleased with my decision. Prior to this I had purchased a refurb. visor deluxe also from Fry's and I've had that one for over a year without any problems.

Thumbs up No Problems.

I bought my refurb Prism thru EBay from Handspring. I am extremely happy with it. Cosmetic blemishes are almost non-existent. Go for it.

Mine was damaged..but replaced quickly

I bought a re-furbished Prism several months ago and everything looked good until I bought the Raycom Personal Massager and it didn't work. Apparently one of the pins in the Springboard slot was bent the whole time and only the PM cared about that particular pin. (Even after I found the bad pin all my other modules worked) I called Handspring and described the problem and they shipped out another one that day. Both LOOK brand new.

My advice would be not to worry about whether it looks good but whether it is mechanically sound. Use a flashlight and look carefully at the pins in the Springboard slot to make sure they are all straight! Mine was hard to see since the bent pin was nearly invisible, which is why I recommend using a flashlight to look it over.

Fry's Electronics..

I picked up a refurb at the local Fry's Electronics store for $169. No problems at all as far as condition. No blemishes, cracks or scratches. Everything worked great. The only thing I noticed was the Prism shell is a blue sort of color, but the snap cover that came with mine was black. Fit and worked great obviously, just a different color. I don't use it anyway so I really didn't care.

Angry

To Bad i Didn't know about compUSA Sooner i just bought a refurb prism for 200$

Unhappy The one I got from CompUSA has no snap-on cover!!

Although the price at CompUSA is cheaper, the snap-on cover is missing. It came with a white plastic cover (not snap-on) commonly seen in a cookie box. Since it's $149+$5 shipping+6% tax in Pennsylvania, I am not that eager to call them and get a snap-on cover. I put on a Brando screen protector. It has no scratch on the screen and body. Over all, I am happy with it.

snap cover

I know this has nothing to do with the subject, but, what snap cover are you talking about? I bought a brand new Prism and never got a snapcover.
