How did you origninally get your first PDA/Visor

Me my first PDA was a third hand WinCE 2.0 device. After realizing how bad it was I saved up and purchased my Ice Vdx that I know and love!

My mom had a WinCE device for a month, gave it to my cousin who doesn't use it. My dad had a REX which is pretty neat, and just got a Palm VIIx. But my VDx is the first I've ever had!

My first PDA was a palm IIIe that I didn't really use. Then I got my Green VDX, then graduated to my current Edge.

Pilot 5000

I was surfing onsale.com (an auction web site from the manufacturers) about 4 years ago and saw Pilot 5000 for bid. So I bought one and went beserk. Abolutely loved it. Upgraded the memory from 512K to 2MB, bought a keyboard, multiple cases, tons of software and the addiction began.

Then 2+ years ago I heard about the Visor DX and ordered a graphite the day it was announced (and even went more beserk).

My wife now uses my Pilot 5000.

Now I'm hoping that Handspring comes out with the equivalent of a Clei (except with a Springboard slot), and I'll be all over it. Otherwise, I'm looking to upgrade to something in 2002 (Palm OS, of course)

Well one day i was reading my GQ magazine and say the ad for the Orange VDX with soundsgood mp3 in the springboard. Well i thought the mp3 player came with it untill i went to best buy to buy it! well I was disapointed by it not comming w/ it but the blue VDX was so cool when, the idiot sales dude in his blue shirt, showed it to me i bought it and thier damn warranty plan for $50. Instead of buying the VPL without the plan.
Well i am glad i got the warranty cause after returning my VDX three times i ended up upgrading to the Edge the 4th return....and only for $50

I have always been a Techie and with that, I always wanted a Palm. Then, Christmas of 1999 my wifes cousin got a Visor Deluxe for Christmas. He explained to me all about the Visor and how it ran PalmOS, the SpringBoard Slot and the fact that it was cheaper. Then, several months later, HandSpring started selling them in retail outlets and I finally took the plunge. Bought an Ice Visor Deluxe.

Now I am an addict. Gave the Deluxe to my Dad and bought a Prism with the BestBuy warranty. Just got rid of it and got the Clie760.

Man do I ever love these things. Not really sure what I would do without it.

Back in college - say '87 - I was in an intensive language program in Tokyo Japan. I really struggled with the pictograph part of the written language.

Anyway, I was in the part of town where the Japanese sell all of the really cool stuff they haven't marketed elsewhere in the world and I stumbled across an early japanese version of the Sharp Wizard. The thing that got my attention was that you could punch in a word phonetically and it would display possible written character combinations. I purchased it for that reason alone - the PIM functions were kind of an afterthought at the time.

After I'd had it for a while I found myself using the PIM functions more and more, and got hooked. The original unit broke pretty quickly (the early versions were pretty flimsy), and I went through a couple of other Sharp models before I purchased my first Palm. The rest is history.

Kinda had an interest in PDA's (never really knew what they did exactly) then late December of 2000 I started researching them. I read about the Visor's and their Springboard's the first thought that came to mind was whether or not they had an MP3 springboard. Sure enough one existed and I got a Blue VDX. At the time I was looking at the M100 (my budget was only $150) but i splurged and got the Visor at $250. Now i'm a happy owner of a Handera 330 and a Prism And my addiction to PDA's is insane now

First I used a couple of different Sharp PIMs, then when the first USR PalmPilot came out, I switched to that, and have been using PalmOS devices ever since.

Started out with a Sharp Zaurus - it was a birthday present. A couple of years later a several friends bought me a PIII for Christmas.

I bought a VDX as soon as they were announced for the added memory and Springboard possibilities.

Hope to soon see a new color device (not an edge) in the HS line and I'll be looking to own one.

SHortly after the Palm III, I could afford to get a 5000 off of Ebay. I was not sure I could justify the purchase, so I did not want to spend too much on it. I lived it, download programs, upgraded to 2MB, ect. I bought a IIIx and gave the 5000 to my wife. After HS came out with the Visor I bought a blue VDX and gave the IIIx to my wife. I have moved to a VPL because the VDX digitalizer went out. I am now waiting (impatiently) for my Prism to arrive, should be here Monday.

I picked up a Sharp Wizard somewhere around 1994-1995. Talk about cool! Complete keyboard, touch screen, small form factor...it was great.

Then my cousin, who was an EE at U.S. Robotics, brought me a demo version of a new product they were working on, called a "Palm Pilot". My first thought was "Nice calculator". It had 128K of RAM and a really hazy gray screen with no backlight. I played around with it for a bit. Hey, I could set appointment alarms with this thing. That ought to help remember conference calls. What's this 'Grafitti' thing? Wow, handwriting recognition, pretty good, too...

I kept that thing for quite a while. In '97 I got a memory upgrade to 256K. I was flying high, let me tell you. Then in '98 when I got the 2MB upgrade, I was so cool. I had infrared beaming capability now. Still no backlight, but so what, right?

That took me to late 1999 when I got my Visor Dexlue, which has (as you all know) been a very good time. I think I hear a Prism calling my name, though...

My first PDA was a Sharp SE-500. It was orginally my dad's but after he bought his green VDX, I said that I wanted the SE-500. I rarely used it afterward. Then when my Dad got a VPL, I inherited his VDX. I loved it. It was a very faithful machine. Then I got a Memplug and really wanted to use PiDirect so I got a VPL.

lets jsut say that after being on these boards for a year, and makign VC my life, and begging to my parents non stop, they surprised me with a platinum the story goes on from there, and now I have two prisms (my brother uses one of them), deluxe and an edge (my dad uses that one).

I first got the Compaq CE. It was slow and looks like Win95 on a smaller scale. A few month later, I saw the Palm Professional for $99 at Office Depot and bought it. I loved it more than the Compaq CE. When Handspring first announced the Visor Deluxe, I ordered on their web site. Once I got the Visor Deluxe, I sold the Palm Professional on ebay. Then in Dec 2000, I went and bought Visor Platinum and use OmniSky to get the $100 offer. Once I got the Platinum, I sold the Visor Deluxe to my friend. Just when Handspring drop the price on the Prism, I went and bought it with the $40 Staples coupons.

Few years back. Windows CE 1.0. NEC MobilePro. Actually found it the other day when I moved. Threw in a couple of batteries and it still works like a charm. Of course, it's still Windows. Must be someplace I could donate it too ...

I started with a palm V that I bought from a guy I worked with because he never used it. I instantly got addicted to it and bought the stowaway and omnisky service. Another friend had just bought a Vx and ended up wanting to return it but since it was open they wouldnt take it back so I bought it from him for a discount and gave the palm V to my mom. I was on vacation the next spring and my hotel room was broken into and I lost my laptop and palm. I needed a replacement so when I was looking online for the cheapest price, I saw an ad for the Edge. At that time it was the same price as a Vx, and since all my accessories for my palm were gone too, I took the plunge. I love the Edge, and someday I'll be able to get a Stowaway for it. Someday.

It all started for me last December when I heard that Handspring was giving away VDXs for selling just 5 Visors in 2 1/2 months! As soon as I figured out how to get the free VDX I sold 5 in 3 days! When Handspring anounced the sell 25 VDXs in one month I was all over it and got the 25 plus some. THEN, I took the plunge back in August and finally bought a Prism! Maybe they'll give me a Treo too!
