-- Get rid of the stylus!!! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3207)
The first piece of advice I can give any current/future Visor owner is to get rid of the damn stylus! It's soo cheap and disfunctional that it just put a small scratch on my screen!(don't worry, it was only in the notepad area, and it's soo small you can't even see it.)
I don't understand how such a brilliant device designer(Hawkins)could F**k up soo badly on something as simple as a pen-like instrument.
Yes I agree...from my impression, it looks like the cheap stylus that use to come with the original Palms. One of the first things I ordered besides the slim case was the 5-pack of styli. From their online store pictures (while it was up) it looked exactly like the stylus from the Nino or Palm III which had a metal barrel and a screw off top reset pin.
A 5-pack should be on everybody's list of things to buy.
Styli replacement
Rich, while I saw those replacement stylii (up close in a glass case at Internet World, it seemed to me that $15 for a five-pack of stylli is a bit much (plus $8 for S&H). I've got three Palm III stylli from my various returns/replacements to Palm, and I've yet to lose one of them. The other two are floating around in my office top drawer, if anyone needs one real cheap ;-)
Anyway, the point is that I think you might do better waiting for the Visor-specific stylus/stylli from www.pdapanache.com, as they've always made great products that have great orange tips that not only make writing easier, but better on the eyes due to the orange tip. The black nail for the Pilot 1000, for my money, is the second-best accessory I bought for my Pilot (the first being a Dooney & Bourke weatherproof leather flip top case, and the third being Scotch Magic Removable tape for the graffiti area).
PDA Panache will be releasing their Visor stylus soon, from what I've heard, so check with them or at www.the-gadgeteer.com and see if Julie has a review coming up with something new from them. For the same $25 or so that you spend on the five-pack (after a month or maybe more), you might end up getting a great stylus that you won't ever want to do without.
