Visor Pro/GPS/Mac?

I am a newbie, just got a Visor Pro for my birthday, and am wondering what a good combination of hardware and software would be to do GPS on my Visor and a Mac. I am just starting out, and I think I want the Magellan GPS companion, but what do you think?

I wasn't aware that there was good mapping software available for the Mac. I know Magellan's software is primarily PC, and that DeLorme is almost exclusively PC.

That said, I prefered buying a stand-alone GPS unit and piping the data into my handheld with a cable from Blue Hills Innovations (www.blue-hills-innovations.com). That way I have the flexibility to use the units independantly, and even more importantly can access map data from a storage card in the Springboard slot (an option you don't get with the Magellan Companion springboard). The 16MB of a Visor Pro fills up pretty fast with typical map sets, especially if you are using the handheld for other, non-mapping activities.

You can pick up a Garmin 12 channel GPS on eBay for about $75.
