Q. What are the fixes installed by Handspring Updater V1.1?

A. Handspring Updater V1.1 installs a Palm OS software update that provides the following:


Improved Graffiti� writing performance on Visor Prism handheld.

Modem HotSync� operation capability that was not previously implemented. A modem HotSync operation can be used to perform synchronization remotely. Using your handheld with a communications Springboard module, you can dial into an analog modem that is connected to your PC or Mac and synchronize your data.

Fixes Connection method editing. After modifying the default profiles in the Connection section of Preferences, a USB HotSync operation or IR synchronization - which worked previously - would fail.
Q. Do I need this update?

A. If you are experiencing difficulty entering text with Graffiti on your Visor Prism, this update improves Graffiti writing performance. Even if you do not experience difficulty with Graffiti on Visor Prism, or you own a Visor Platinum, Handspring recommends that all English-language Visor Prism and Visor Platinum owners update their software to include the modem HotSync capability and avoid problems with USB HotSync operations.

Handspring fixed my graffiti problem

I cannot believe what this patch actually fixed the graffiti problem on my Prism and hasn't slowed it down!

Before the patch, using FitalyStamp, tapping on "a" resulted in the following letters being displayed "ahheElaaHeeWaAeaaAhAaaAehl...". After the patch, tapping on "a" returns all "a"s. I'm also getting 100% graffiti recognition too.

I have run the BenchMark, PocketMark and QuickBits speed tests and they all produce the same results as they did before the patch.

The funny thing is that I had finally received a replacement Prism, which did not have the graffiti problem, but it one has an imperfect screen digitizer display and I was wondering to keep that or return it.

I wish I new what this new patch of Handspring's did to solve this graffiti problem...

Just installed the patch on my Prism and I must give it a big thumbs up!! This patch seemed to do the trick correcting my graffiti issue. Way to go Handspring!!

If you didn't think you were having problems with Graffiti and your Prism is working fine go ahead and still download this patch. I thought mine was working ok and it works even better now.

I may be from the LEFT coast but that's not the correct political view in my mind!

I realy do not believe this IT WORKED! and it worked great it seems to be 100% in graffiti area and even on the screen and me with a new one on it's way to replace my old one and with hopes to fix this very problem. Boy i bet handspring wishes that this would have come out quicker and saved them a lot of money in shiping not to say anything about what will they do with all the old Prism's (Sell them back to us with new cases on them). but anyway i guess i will keep the new one when it get's here and ship them back my old one (less than 4 weeks old that is).

It works! I too am in the camp of having a new one on the way in hopes of correcting this problem. I guess I'll do screen brightness comparisons, battery life tests, etc. and keep the winner. Huray!

All Right! I thought I was just having a hard time learning the graffiti (new PDA user) on my new Prism. Things are much better after installing this patch.

Anyone try this on a Visor Deluxe yet? I'm wondering if it could update to OS 3.5.2H (hey, it's worth a try!).

Just loaded the patch and...viola! Presto, chango...I now have a Prism that recognizes graffiti--what a concept!!!

Gee, now what do I do with the new one that is supposed to be delivered on Wednesday? Guess I'll compare the two and keep the best performer.

Digitizer Patch Won't Work on All Prisms

Regrettably, the patch in question didn't fix the graffiti/digitizer problem that affected my first Prism. Double checked to make sure the patch "took" and, nope, no relief. Oh well, still gotta commend HandSpring's customer service and tech support answering phones promptly in connection with my replacement request. Now, the replacement request was made last Friday, it's Tuesday evening - when will the new one arrive?
