Really? Fox News? I would think if it were Clinton they'd give it a lot more than a snippet.

'no wonder GWB's middlename is Walker'

I don't know, "Dancer" might be better.

For instance the EPA has to create specific regulations to comply with the law as passed by Congress. For instance, Congress may say "We want clean air, with noticeable reductions in ____." The EPA comes us with regulations to ensure that goal is met.

What may sound funny is that typically people see the judicial branch as interpretting the law, and indeed they do. But the executive branch does it all the time. It just has to try to make sure its interpretation coincides with what the judges are going to say.

You are right, also the executive branch sometimes interprets law. However, I strongly doubt this is what Bush meant when he said what he said - specially when we look how he went on with this subject one month later:

"I am mindful of the difference between the executive branch and the legislative branch. I assured all four of these leaders that I know the difference, and that difference is they pass the laws and I execute them."
Washington, D.C., Dec. 18, 2000

Since I am not totally familiar with US legislation, who are the four leaders that pass the laws in the US?

There's really no point. On the other hand, you have to admit that President Bush senior was the first president who almost got killed by a Bretzel, no?

He was probably referring to the majority and minority leaders in the House and Senate if I had to guess. They are the leaders of the body that passes the laws, and there are four of them.

My best guess would be the leaders of the Republican and Democratic delegations in both the Senate and the House.

Well, as long as we're dishing the non sequiturs, you'd have to admit that Jimmy Carter is probably the first president who was supposedly a nuclear engineer and yet couldn't pronounce the word properly. What's that have to do with the price of milk in India?

Actually I refuse to admit that, because as far as I know, it was President Bush junior. I'm open to enlightenment, though.

G.W. Bush was 'almost killed' by a pretzel. G.H.W. Bush hurled on the Japanese PM.

Right. Of course. I'm awaiting any information if GB 41 had a similar salted-snack encounter.

He didn't. I was reinforcing your statement.

I know that's what you were trying to do, but I hold out in the belief that it is impossible to prove such a statement absent a chronology of every event during GB 41's tenure.

But it was quite a nice example of abstract humor...

It has everything to do with it. Peanut butter can be used as a substitute for normal butter made of milk. It is well know that due to Carter's lack of success in nuclear engineering he went into peanut farming, thereby increasing peanut butter export to India, which resulted in a fall of the milk price there. You thought I didn't know that?

I was hoping for BobbyMike to confirm the pretzel incident with Bush senior (who was working around BobbyMike for a while), which would also give credit to the theory that pretzelosis runs in families. On the other hand, it is also possible that I meant junior and typed senior.

Yes, as in selling the buick...talking to ralph... Something he ate didn't agree with him (the Japanese PM probably didn't like it much either).

Of course! Someone had to say it, though.

And I thought Clinton did a great job as president. He didn't do anything many other presidents didn't do... he just a) got caught, b) didn't hush enough people up, and c) refused to admit he inhaled, got blown, etc.
