Okay, this may be a stupid question, but I really need some help with this. I've been using the Date Book + and have tried on several occasions to put in my work/class schedule. When I open the Date Book afterwards though, all the items I've put in are crammed into one day on the following week. Can someone with more Palm OS experience let me know how I should be entering these events? The User Guide was not really helpful. Thanks!!

Hope this helps!

Don't use a floating event because it automatically will forward until you clear it or mark it as complete. This feature is really for to do items and not for scheduling.

From the day view

First tap on new and choose appointment.

When adding an appointment, the default day is today, therefore pick the time which is the first view then set the hours and then tap "ok" when it takes you back to the day view tap on "details" button and then pick the date of the appointment, you can also set reoccuring items in this detail section. Tapping on OK will return you to the day view. The cursor will automatically default to the time you picked in the earlier step. Here you can now enter some subject matter or use the shortcut command to switch to the phone look up feature and place a name or contact into the time slot by tapping "add". The shortcut command is /L where the / is started from the bottom and diagnolly moved upward followed by the L in the graffit area. This will pop up the address book (default) with an add and cancel button. Pick the contact and hit add and your be returned to the date view with your contact automatically placed in the predefined time slot.

You can also start in the week view or month view and double tap on the date you want the appointment scheduled and then it switches to that day view instead of today's date. You can then enter a "new" appointment as mentioned above and you won't have to change the date.

If this doesn't help send me an email and I'll take it to the next level of instruction via phone.

Zen:

I think you'll have to start another thread for that problem......or my favorite is give the kid chocolate. Then they'll still throw a fit and make a mess at the same time.

Moose -- Thank you! Thank you!! Evidently I had made my class schedule out of Floating Events... So I guess I'm just a little stupid.... Thanks again!

Question

Moose,

(Question in advance of my deluxe arriving)
Myself,a vetran datebook3 user, I would like to know if you can use the full version of dbk3 instead of the slimmer version on the visor?

Thanks
Mike

Yes,
The fundamental difference between the lite and the full version is the icons. Just about everything else is there on the deluxe.

Some people have reported some duplication of alarms but I haven't had any issues. I had checked with the developer prior to mine arriving and was assured of no issues in installing. Since the datebook lite is stored in the OS you obviously can't delete it but there is no need just go ahead and load your Datebook3 and and set your preferences.

PS I am assuming you are therefore a convert from Palm, which device? You'll love the Visor Dx - I used to have a Palm V which was my 4th generation Palm.

Another tip: You'll need to use the same user name for your Visor as your Palm otherwise your registration won't be valid. Sync your Palm then install the Handspring disk to get the USB drivers to work and then sync the Visor. After that you'll need to change a user name on one of the devices if you plan on having two machines on one desktop computer. Get nasty conflicts with the "Saved Preferences" and other stuff otherwise. You'll forfeit some registration codes for software but you'll not have headaches.

If you use backup buddy you'll only have to sync the one time to get everthing in on the first sync. If not, some of the software is not stored in the Palm/SR/backup folder and you might need to keep your Palm device handy for the registration codes on some of your software. The Handspring desktop software will not overwrite any critical user info - just installs the USB.

Also, I delete any hacks that you have and then install them clean rather than attempting to sync first shot. Seems a little twitchy because of the differences in the saved preferences. One last personal note or problem: If your running Documents to Go....delete the program and the related .PDB or doc files before attempting to sync first time. Docs to go has a reinstall feature from your desktop...use it. If not, you'll get an error message and you won't be able to soft reset....you'll have to do a hard reset and start a new.

Talking

Thanks Moose,

Third generation 1 to 5 to pro with a pager card. Can't wait for my visor. I hated to choose between my programs. The visor should free up that time waster for another: searching out new and obscure programs. Now if i could only get an innogear modem and pager and.....and.....and.....annnnnnnnd I guess i should wait on my visor first.
