Question serial port blocked

I just downloaded a trial of Omni remote for my VDx. When I try to run it, I get a message that says my serial port is blocked. How do I find out what's blocking my serial port ?

The only thing I can think of would be the Thinmodem which I no longer own... Is it possible some software is still lurking that might cause this ?

Thanks in advance.

found it !

It was my Visorphone, in case anyone was wondering. Took that out, and OR started up ok.

But I don't want to remove my VP ! Call the wahmbulance !

Ah!, you didn't say that you had a Visorphone in! My understanding is that Visors have one serial port which is shared between the IR port and the SpringBoard port. Only one can use the serial port at a time. Therefore, if you had your Visorphone in and on, the software could not access the IR port. Similarly, if you had a ThinModem in and were on-line and tried to use your IR port, you couldn't. If you simply had the Visorphone or ThinModem in but they were not on or on-line respectively, then the IR port should work.

No, I didn't. Details, details...

Unfortunately, turning the Vphone off does not allow Omni Remote to function, I still get the message that the port is blocked... Too bad, it's a slick program, but I'm not going to yank the phone out every time I want to use it...

But I am fully capable of sending and receiving info via IR when my VisorPhone is in and on. Does OmniRemote utilize the port in another way?

I have no clue... I e-mailed Pacific Neotek's support. They are looking into it. If I can get it to work with the phone turned off, that's fine. If I have to yank the phone, it's not worth it for me.
