I bought a quicklink handheld scanner from Buy.com a few days ago. The sucker goes back tomorrow!!!!! It is a very good concept, a text scanner that can be held in your hand and beam data to a PDA or laptop, or connect via serial or usb-serial to a PC. The problem is that the implementation is the pits! It can barely read anything. Most of what gets scanned in comes out as gibberish. As I am a thesis student, I don't have the time to play games with it. If you have time to figure out how to get it to scan properly, more power to you, but I have better ways to spend my time and hard earned $$$.

I did a review of the QuickLink back in May. At first, I had trouble scanning, too. There is a certain feel that needs to be aquired to get the pen to scan properly (I mentioned this in the first paragraph on page 2 of the review) It took me maybe 30 minutes or so to train myself and get good results afterwards.

You might want to give yourself some more time to do the same as I feel it is a fairly nice product the does its intended function rather well.
