-- New & Improved Rhodiana Tab.... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11818)

Posted by Arker on 02-13-2001 11:11 PM:

Well the Rhodiana belt clip case is once again being offered after (apparently) resolving the breaking tab epidemic. The tabs are now made of "stronger plastic" that won't snap off with the ease of the old generation. I have one on the way and I'll let you know what it's like when it arrives.

Thought some of you would be interested...

Cheers,

Arker.

I'd be very interested in your experience. I'm seriously considering upgrading to a Prism and was very disappointed that the belt clip was no longer available. I've had my Rhodiana on my VDX for almost a year and have loved it. Please keep us posted.

Thumbs up

I've already received a repaired tab from Rhodiana that has the new improved button. The plastic plate that held the button originally is now larger, and the button is part of the plate. (it's one piece) Originally, the metal button was attached to the plate, which was the weak point in the assembly. I snapped mine on the side bolster of a car seat and felt strange sticking the case into my pocket until I got home.

After calling Rhodiana, I sent the case and had it back in a week. Since I had bought the case second-hand, I had to pay $10. I don't know if Rhodiana will fix the button for free for those original owners.

I have some questions:

Is the button that is attached to the case metallic or plastic?

Is the belt clip completely plastic or part metallic and part plastic?

Is it simillar to the High Tech belt clip from E&B slippery?

Could you post a picture of your belt clip?

Here is a picture of the one I have

The new tab is entirley plastic just like the old one. It's just thicker plastic. This one looks no different than the old one except the old one had 'walls' that were paper thin. This one definately looks stronger but it could still potentially snap off in my opinion. 'Course I'm no engineer.

The belt clip and tab are entirley made of plastic by the looks of it.

I've never seen the slipper... Someone help me out here..

Could you post a picture of your belt clip?

/me needs a digital camera...

Cheers,

Arker

All one piece of plastic. My original was metal with a plastic core.

Except for the for the springs, all plastic

No, the two are of different designs

If I have time, but the belt clip is the same as the swivel clips for cell phones (Nokias)

That looks like mine. I'm not sure if the plate is the same size, but my repaired one is definately larger than the original.

Thumbs down There's No Free Fix...

Back when I still had a Rhodiana I called when my belt tab broke. They told me that it would be $10 for the fix, regardless of the fact that I had bought it from them.
