EB Slippercase Cutout for VisorPhone Charger

I have a Prism and just got the Visorphone. I also have an EB slippercase for the two AND a stowaway module.

Curious, has anyone be able to modify the EB SLIPPER CASE near the serial jack down below with an opening to accept the charger's plug? I'd be very interested in knowing how that worked out and if it compromised its integrity. I'd be afraid of a bigger hole ripping out uncontrollably from just a little handling, but I've never worked with leather before.

Also, I have a stowaway, which isn't like the cradle in that you probably COULD fit the Prism/Visorphone/EB Slipper Case combo in this puppy. That way, I wouldn't have to unzip my Prism/Visorphone everytime I wanted to charge or type!

Thanks for all your replies!

As long as you cut round, not square corners, it shouldnt tear.

Cutout tools

What kind of tool would you use to cut it out? How do you make it a professional job? I hate shoddy jobs, and I'm sure there is a proven process that will allow even me (<-- not a handicrafts guy) the ability to make this cutout work.

Of course I'd measure the dimensions of the cable plugs, and make the OVAL slightly larger. Then I might make a live-size trave of it on tracepaper.

Then what? Which tool to cut ovals?

Thanks!

I used fingernail cutting sissors, they are very short and work good in the small area.

Why cut at all?

Is this the case that you have? I've got this one (with the belt clip), and I haven't had any problem putting the Prism into the cradle to charge it. I simply unzip the bottom of the case and fold the "flap" back so that it ends up being on the back of the cradle.

I'm not sure if this will look correct below, but here is a diagram (side view) of how it works:

code:
/ / /^\

Picture the ^ as the cradle, the /'s as the Prism and the \ as the "flap".

EB Slipper Case VisorPhone

Oh, I see. Doesn't that make a crease in your leather that's permanent? Please let me know, I will use it if not. I ask because I like my gear in Pristine shape.

Thanks! I'm gonna need that advice if I'm going to charge my prism/vp in my car!

Not too much; it folds right at the top of the pouch cover. However, truth be told, I tend to pull mine out of the case to sync now because I'm usually switching out my VisorPhone for my FlashPlus module during the HotSync.

Velcro Flip Cover

Do you ever feel with such a thin strip of velcro on a thin strip of leather that it might pull free some day? The stitching HAS to be reinforced, or it will.

I'm not sure what leather strip you're referring to here... Are you talking about the small piece that covers the pouch designed for the earbud? It seems quite well stitched to me...
