I don't have an answer for diomede, but a related question: What's so great about having your "beam" cut off? Does it save batteries to leave it off?

Yes, it does save the battery.

For me, it saves the battery and stops my laptop's IR port from tricking the Visor into thinking someone is trying to beam something.

I use MenuCmd-ns, a DA launcher (which is a Hack) and a DA called IrSwitch to quickly turn it off and on.

Shortcut dot 3 works great on my VDx. Jumps right to the "waiting for sender" prompt.

Smile Ohhh!

Thanks for the reply!! I'll cut that bad boy off!

P.S. BruceMc, shortcut dot 3 cuts off my auto-off, but there's another thread that has a site with a listing off all of the shortcut secrets which I will check out.
