-- 8 mb module - sucking the juice? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3081)
I've kept my 8 meg module in my IVX constantly now for 2 months. Ever since installing it my actual runtime on the batteries has come from 14 - 18 hours to 5 - 9! That's quite a drain! Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
Nope. I usually keep a 8mb module in my Visor (except while backing up using Backup Module, or a modem) and I'm still getting about 20 hours runtime.
The few times I got about 10 hours runtime, was when I was using the MODEM a lot. That thing sucks! (batteries
)
I've often wondered if there is a drain on batteries when modules are in the slot and they're not being used. Can anyone offer any insight?
Handspring technical support told me that the 8mb module draws battery power when left in the Visor all the time. I use my GDX alot and I usually get about 7 to 8 days of battery life, with the module in all the time.

There is a .02v difference in the battery indicator between having the module in and out. The drain is there, but I rotate my NiMH batteries every week, so I don't really notice the difference too much
